Chapter 90: Chapter 90: I Caused Aunt Watson’s Death
Time passed, though no one knew how much.
With a "click", the door to the operating room was pushed open.
Sophie Allen rushed forward anxiously, grasping Dr. Zhang’s arm and hurriedly asking, "Dr. Zhang, how is Aunt Watson? Is she out of danger yet?"
Dr. Zhang’s face was grim, and he shook his head helplessly, sighing, "At 14:02, Mrs. Watson’s resuscitation was unsuccessful; she passed away."
"Miss Allen, you should prepare for the funeral. Let Mrs. Watson leave with dignity."
"No —— Aunt Watson, don’t leave me ——"
In the hallway, the desperate screams of the girl echoed.
The next second, her vision darkened and she completely lost consciousness.
...
Upon waking, the first thing Sophie Allen saw was Henry Hudson.
She was lying on a hospital bed, and Henry Hudson was sitting by the bedside.
She immediately sat up and grabbed Henry Hudson’s hand, her hoarse voice asking, "Senior, am I dreaming? Aunt Watson is just resting in the ward, right?"
Henry Hudson’s face was equally pale; he had stayed up all night at Sophie Allen’s bedside.
He didn’t know what to say and silently shook his head.
At this moment, Sophie Allen burst into tears.
Quickly standing up, Henry Hudson embraced her, soothingly saying,
"Charlotte, Aunt Watson is in the morgue. I wanted to help you send Aunt Watson to be cremated. However, I feel it’s best if you bid her farewell personally."
"You need to stay strong because Aunt Watson’s death may not be an accident, so you must be strong!"
Sophie Allen was momentarily stunned as her face filled with tears. She looked up at the man, her eyes red and swollen, "Senior, you said... Aunt Watson’s death was not accidental?"
"What’s going on, what’s happened?"
Henry Hudson hurriedly took out his phone, and switched to the video that he had found earlier, showing it to Sophie Allen.
"I noticed Aunt Watson seemed well recently, unlikely to suddenly pass away. Nurse Emily Wood also said that before Aunt Watson died, a middle-aged woman had visited her. I checked the surveillance video and found out it was your stepmother."
Sophie Allen felt a chill throughout her body, clutching the sheets tightly.
In the surveillance video, she saw Mia Stewart running out of the ward in panic, just as Emily Allen arrived with Ryan Richard.
Then, Mia Stewart quickly scurried off with the two, looking very much like a guilty thief.
"It was her! Mia Stewart killed Aunt Watson! I want to call the police, I want to call the police——"
Henry Hudson grabbed Sophie Allen’s hand and shook his head, saying, "I’ve already called the police, but there wasn’t enough evidence and Mia Stewart was let go."
"Why wasn’t there enough evidence? Isn’t there surveillance?" Sophie Allen cried in anguish.
"Mia Stewart claimed she had only briefly chatted with Aunt Watson; Aunt Watson got mad because of some personal matters about you and drove Mia Stewart away," Henry Hudson, his lips pressed thin, said, "She said it was because of you that Aunt Watson was shocked and had a sudden cardiac arrest and died."
"There were indeed no signs of struggle or injury on Aunt Watson, so, Mia Stewart could only be set free."
Sophie Allen stared blankly at the distance, murmuring, "Mia Stewart said Aunt Watson was shocked because of me, she told Aunt Watson... what?"
Henry Hudson was suddenly taken aback, his eyes evasive, and he didn’t answer for a moment.
Seeing his reaction, Sophie Allen gave a wry smile, "So I killed Aunt Watson ..."
"Charlotte, you can’t blame yourself like this, it’s not your fault that Aunt Watson died! You’re just a victim, the ones who should die are Mia Stewart and them, you should stay strong!" Henry Hudson looked extremely conflicted.
As a man, he had no idea how to comfort Sophie Allen in a situation like this.
"Charlotte, they spread rumors that you sold yourself to a certain Mr. Williams. I’ve already warned them; I don’t believe you would do such a thing."
"What you need to do now is to stay strong, and together we’ll take care of Aunt Watson’s funeral matters, alright?"
