"One aspect is to push the three thousand worlds back to their original trajectory, and the other is that we must resolve these grievances. There must be a beginning and an end. Only by eliminating grievances and negative energy first can the alien creatures be returned to their intended paths and humanity's mutation be stopped."
They had basically confirmed their guess, and the verification method was very simple, yielding results soon. The biggest problems now were these two.
Pushing the worlds back to their original trajectories was relatively easy. The main network could find ways to dispatch task-takers for corrections. If some couldn't be corrected, they would be destroyed, making it easier to manage the reduced number.
But how to eliminate negative energy?
What Luan Yu had done before was to seal off those entrances one world at a time, expending a vast amount of energy to close spatial-temporal rifts, achieving temporary safety.
Now, the three thousand worlds were almost riddled with holes. Using this method again would likely exhaust her to death without accomplishing anything.
Moreover, this method only treated the symptoms, not the root cause. If the container couldn't hold any more, and they were still being crammed in, it would eventually explode, leading to even more trouble.
Zhu Jìn looked at the line representing the alien creatures' trajectory that she had drawn and asked, "Do you know where this place is?"
Luan Yu thought for a moment. "Speaking of which, I've dealt with them for quite some time, but I really don't know where their lair is. We might need to look for it."
"Then let's look first. I want to see it before making plans."
"Alright."
—
"Xiao Yan, Xiao Yan!"
The door was being pounded on relentlessly. Shen Chongyan sat up straight. It was just dawn outside, the mist thick and heavy, casting a gloomy mood.
Shen Chongyan rubbed his eyes. "Brother, what's wrong?"
"The alien creatures are here, get up quickly!"
Shen Chongyan hurriedly got out of bed, dressed, and walked outside.
Shen Qian, fully armed, said nervously, "Someone with evolved vision saw a group of alien creatures heading this way. The system says that because many people have gathered here, they can sense it, and the target is very clear."
"I know, Brother. You guys arrange for the others to hide first, I'll deal with the alien creatures."
"They are already hiding. You all be careful."
"Okay."
When Shen Chongyan walked out, many ability users were already standing by the entrance of the safe zone, fully armed. People were also stationed on the rooftops to prevent flying alien creatures from approaching.
He walked up to Jin Wenye. "How much further?"
"About a kilometer. At their speed, it will be soon."
Old Jin cursed, "I haven't had a few days of peace, and these beasts are here to die again! I'll make sure to smash them to bits later."
Jin Wenye calmly reminded, "Try not to use weapons that are too destructive. Demolishing houses just to kill a few minions would be a loss."
"That's true," someone agreed. "We have the spiritual spring anyway, so we can replenish energy anytime. Even if we exhaust our abilities, we can still wear down those beasts."
Lin Wan was now the main support healer for the entire base. Her spiritual spring water could replenish energy for people anytime, anywhere, unless it was an extreme one-time consumption that couldn't be recovered quickly. But everyone was experienced now and rarely encountered such situations.
Old Jin's group had arrived about a week ago. The person they were going to join had not awakened their abilities, and his subordinates had gradually died off or left. After they joined, they couldn't compete with other teams. Staying longer would only lead to them being completely devoured by other teams.
Moreover, having witnessed the prowess of Shen Chongyan and his group, their chances of survival here were clearly much higher. They convinced that person and brought the remaining two hundred-odd subordinates with them.
In addition to people, they also brought a large number of military weapons. This was their first experience with an alien creature attack since arriving here, and it would also be their first time witnessing the people Old Jin and the others had praised so highly in action.
A few minutes later, the first wave of alien creatures finally arrived. Smelling human scent, they headed straight for the safe zone. The outer wall of the residential area had already been built. The main entrance now was the small square in front of the residential complex, which also served as their battlefield.
As they entered the attack range, Jin Wenye struck first. Crackling lightning descended from the sky, instantly scorching the first few alien creatures to a crisp.
Some of those charging from behind lay down to gnaw on the corpses of their companions, while most continued to charge at them. Among them were a few particularly large ones, their bodies almost exhibiting limb duplication, making them look like they were growing at will.
Shen Chongyan flew down with his sword. The leading alien creature, covered in pus, was split in half. The sword's gust of wind flung the blood aside. He turned and severed the head of another alien creature. His body soared into the air, and he kicked a mutated dog that charged at him, using the momentum to hack off half of another alien creature's body.
Others quickly picked up their weapons or activated their abilities, charging towards the grotesque monsters. They burned them with fire, hacked them with knives, shot them with guns. Some fought alone, while others cooperated. Everyone worked together to slaughter these alien creatures that wanted to devour them.
Dealing with these things was as easy as cutting watermelons for those with higher ability levels. Jin Wenye initially electrocuted them until they were charred, but later found it a waste of energy and switched to electrocuting them unconscious.
Someone followed him with a knife, and upon seeing a stunned alien creature, quickly went up to deliver the finishing blow, slicing at vital points a few times. No matter how lucky they were, they had to die.
Shen Chongyan charged at the forefront, slaughtering wildly. Stragglers were dealt with by those behind him. The further back people were, the weaker their combat power. Their responsibility was to finish off the wounded alien creatures, with almost no danger involved.
The alien creatures on the ground were quickly dealt with. Just then, they suddenly felt the sky, which had already brightened, dim again. In the ensuing quiet, they could hear the sound of flapping wings.
Looking up, the sky was a dense black mass, filled with alien birds with enormous wings. Some looked like hydras, with over a dozen heads retracting and extending. Others had multiple wings, and some trailed phoenix-like tails. Those on the rooftops shot at them with guns, and a few fell.
Shen Chongyan was the first to react. He abandoned this battlefield, rode the wind, and quickly went to a relatively low rooftop. He placed his sword in mid-air and formed hand seals.
This was the first move he had figured out himself, and also the one he was most proficient with, which was why he dared to operate this way.
All the dispersed sword shadows fell into mid-air. As he lowered his hands, the sword shadows shot upwards with a "whoosh." Wherever the sword shadows passed, black feathers filled the air, and abnormally large monstrous birds rained down. Those on the rooftops quickly sought cover. Some of the fallen birds were still struggling, and they rushed forward to finish them off with gunfire and knives.
This move instantly killed eight or nine out of ten of the alien birds. The remaining ones were either scared away, or some, at great risk, came to drag away the corpses of their companions. They were here for food, and it didn't matter if they couldn't eat humans, as long as they could eat something.
Taking advantage of this opportunity, those with guns shot down a few more. Those on the ground swiftly cleaned up the remaining alien creatures and then began clearing the battlefield.
