Chapter 226: Constructing a Dream

Alain sat on the new big bed, mulling things over.

Misha stood by without a word, silently walking outside to bring Alain his breakfast.

"Darling, why don't you eat while you think?" The understanding girl was like the morning sun, illuminating Alain.

"Mmm, thank you."

This indicated that the dream possessed a certain degree of deceptive capability... or perhaps, the ability to contaminate memories?

Speaking of which, when he was sleepwalking, was he in a state of being taken over? At least he didn't have to worry about being killed by a sudden stroke of "good fortune" and reincarnating into another world again. Newest update provided by novel·fire·net

Alain nodded, setting his next objective:

Alain made a special mental note of this.

His attention returned to the question he had formulated: would the conspirator use the opportunity of his confession date with Misha, when they were alone, to disguise themselves as her?

Assume that, during the date with Misha, the dream conspirator really does make him enter a sleepwalking state and successfully "swaps" Misha of the date's privacy to disguise themselves as Misha?

Just like with the real estate agent: subtly replacing someone without Alain even knowing it.

Or rather, making him enter a sleepwalking state without him realizing...

"By the way, what was I like when I was sleepwalking?" Alain asked Misha.

So, what Alain needed to do was also very simple:

Try to figure out the other party's identity and intentions. Could they be in league with that damn Black Ghost from before? Or perhaps, they were that damn Black Ghost.

The confession date with Misha. This was a chance for the two of them to be alone, and Alain didn't think the other party would let such a golden opportunity pass. They would definitely pull some kind of stunt.

Misha seemed a bit surprised and began to think.

Of course, the premise for all this was whether the entity in the shadows would really, as Alain wished... step into the light on its own.

"Hmm... Although you felt a little different from your usual self, you could still respond. And besides, you were particularly well-behaved those few days."

After reaching this conclusion, Alain put down the half-eaten congee and looked at Misha.

He picked up the bowl and, stirring the spoon, began to eat in small sips.

Hidden... He had been too hasty and hadn't noticed many of the details.

"Well-behaved?"

"That's right. You didn't get handsy with me while we were sleeping."

What? So he usually had a tendency to get handsy while sleeping with Misha? He had absolutely no memory of this.

Hearing this, the long-haired girl turned to look at him gently, her starry eyes shimmering with brilliant light. She asked knowingly, "What is it?"

"Tonight, will you go on a date with me?"

For instance, that dream conspirator, by "disguising" themselves as a real estate agent, managed to get an opportunity to talk with him.

What a shame.

The night was like mist, the lights like a tide.

Listening to the girl's gasps of wonder beside him, Alain couldn't help but smile.

That morning, Misha had, unsurprisingly, accepted his invitation for a date.

Tonight, she had put on elegant, light makeup. Her already fair skin looked so delicate one could break it with a touch, and a layer of crimson gloss adorned her pink lips.

She wore a pale white lace dress, with bubble socks under the hem paired with dark brown loafers.

She held his arm. Today, she was overflowing with girlish charm.

Looking at her like this, Alain silently sent her a look.

[You look especially beautiful today.]

"Hee hee~" The girl giggled sweetly, her eyes radiating a brightness like moonlight.

[You're very handsome too~]

Alain planned to follow the itinerary Millie had recommended for this confession date. After all, his good bro had "tested" it with him; he couldn't let her feelings go to waste.

The young man and woman walked into the shopping mall, and Misha, unsurprisingly, immediately set her eyes on a baseball bat.

"Alain, I want that one! The baseball bats are on sale again today!"

Alain's mouth twitched.

He vaguely remembered that Misha's nationality was that of a certain country.

Mmm... The one that sells 400,000 baseball bats and 31 baseballs a year.

Looking at it this way, it must be her racial genes acting up.

"Buy it!" Alain waved his hand magnanimously, earning a soft kiss from the girl.

Afterward, they went to the Ferris wheel, gazing out at the entire city's night sky from the highest point, and shared a routine kiss before heading to their final stop—

The long-haired girl stood by the railing, touching up her makeup. Through her exquisite compact mirror, Alain could see the blush on her cheeks was not from rouge.

There was no exhibition at Crystal Flower Park tonight, but the crimson crystal flowers were still blooming brilliantly within.

Her shy nervousness intertwined with the light of the crystal flowers, a sight that made Alain chuckle softly.

Amidst his smile, his thoughts grew serious again.

Alain hadn't told Misha about the dream, lest it ruin her mood for the date.

And from his observations along the way, Misha was just Misha; there were no signs of her being "swapped."

Perhaps he had been wrong after all. The dream conspirator didn't necessarily need to be with him one-on-one.

I was being too presumptive...

Alain sighed to himself. Seeing that Misha had finished her makeup, he watched as she stood solemnly by the railing, looking at him.

He understood. The main event of the evening had arrived.

Alain could almost see the cage from when he first met her. Since then, Misha had always been by his side.

A supportive partner, or perhaps a secretary. Whether it was before or after a battle, or in every aspect of daily life, she could handle everything perfectly.

Alain walked towards her, silently taking the girl's hand and placing it in his palm, caressing it carefully.

She was beautiful and gentle, with a personality that was elegant and wise—a rare find in the real world—while also possessing a sweet innocence.

He could already see in her face a deep affection and the resolve to walk with him to the very end.

My dear...

Alain winked at the girl, the meaning in his eyes simple.

[I love you.]

AWAY.

But Alain couldn't understand what it meant.

When did it happen? He hadn't noticed at all.

He widened his eyes.

The rooftop was still the rooftop, and the moon in the night sky was missing a corner. The waning moonlight cast itself upon her beautiful, pure face, painting the features beneath her bangs with somber, three-dimensional shadows.

Gusts of night wind tore through the gaze shared between them.

Her beautiful hair, tossed about by the wind, pricked the corners of Alain's eyes and his cheeks. The familiar scent of her hair made him shudder uncontrollably.

"Alain. Right now, I am very happy."

Her lips curved into a smile, like a crescent moon.

The girl lifted her head, holding back her long, wind-swept hair, and gazed up at the vast, silent night sky.

The moonlit night was boundless and endless, a cage without visible chains or bars.
