Then, from the sky, numerous eggs rained down upon Gajeel.
BOOM BOOM—
After a series of explosions, Gajeel stood revealed, his body now entirely transformed into a shimmering, metallic form of iron.
"Karma Demon: Iron God Sword!" A bright green magic circle materialized, from which countless jagged iron swords erupted, instantly engulfing the chicken-like creature.
Gajeel clasped his hands together, his form merging into a colossal iron sword that seemed to pierce the very heavens.
"Witness the might of Fairy Tail!" Gajeel roared, his voice echoing with unwavering determination.
The enormous iron sword was raised high above his head, before being brought down with a devastating, earth-shattering force.
"Dragon Slayer’s Secret Art: Iron Shadow Dragon’s Iron Slash!"
BOOM—!!!
"Uggaaahhhhh!" The dog-headed and chicken-like creatures were completely enveloped by the colossal iron sword, their forms utterly annihilated.
"Ha... ha..." Gajeel gasped, his vision blurring from the immense magical energy expenditure.
"Gajeel!" Calls of concern echoed from a nearby location.
Gajeel’s gaze shifted towards the approaching figures, a weary smile gracing his lips.
"I haven’t disgraced Fairy Tail!" Gajeel declared, his voice laced with pride, before collapsing to the ground from sheer exhaustion.
However, instead of the anticipated pain of impact, a sense of relief washed over him.
"Finn... Grimoire Heart..." He attempted to utter more, but his voice trailed off.
"Don’t worry, Gajeel. I’ve already informed Finn-san and the others," Levy reassured him, her eyes filled with concern as she gazed upon Gajeel’s battered form. "Your injuries are the top priority right now."
Finn nodded in agreement. "Rest assured, we’ll handle things from here!"
"How are you feeling now?"
Erza approached, her voice laced with concern.
"I can still move," Gajeel replied, his voice strained as he struggled to catch his breath.
"Levy, please escort Gajeel back to the base camp. Mira and the others are waiting there," Finn instructed, his gaze directed towards Levy.
Levy nodded resolutely. "Leave it to me!"
"Hahahaha!" A burst of laughter erupted from the fallen dog-headed creature, its voice echoing through the clearing.
"It’s already too late! Our main force is about to arrive!" the creature declared, its voice laced with a hint of triumphant glee.
The creature fixed its gaze upon Finn and his companions, its eyes gleaming with a mixture of malice and derision.
"Mages of unparalleled power, mages whom even I cannot hope to rival, are about to descend upon this very island," the creature continued, its voice laced with a hint of chilling foreboding. "The Seven Kin of Purgatory are about to unleash their wrath upon this place, bringing about its utter destruction!"
Finn’s brow furrowed in response to the creature’s ominous pronouncements. He approached the injured dog-headed creature.
"What is your ultimate objective?" Finn demanded, his voice laced with a tone of steely determination.
"Heh... there’s no harm in revealing our intentions to you," the dog-headed creature responded, its laughter echoing through the clearing despite its battered condition.
"The Black Mage Zeref!" the creature declared, its eyes gleaming with an intense, almost fanatical light.
The creature’s voice took on a tone of profound reverence as it spoke the name of the legendary Black Mage. Its demeanor resembled that of a devout follower, utterly devoted to its master.
"We have discovered his whereabouts... he is concealed somewhere on this very island!" the creature revealed, its voice laced with a hint of triumphant glee.
Finn and his companions exchanged uneasy glances, a palpable sense of unease settling over them.
A heavy atmosphere of foreboding descended upon the clearing.
"Zeref? Wasn’t he supposed to have perished centuries ago? How is it possible that he could still be alive?" Erza questioned, her voice laced with disbelief.
"He is very much alive, having survived for the past four hundred years," the dog-headed creature responded calmly, its voice laced with a hint of chilling certainty.
Finn stroked his chin thoughtfully, recalling the ominous aura of death that he had sensed earlier.
"That must be Zeref..." Finn murmured, his voice laced with a hint of grim realization.
The dog-headed creature let out a sudden burst of laughter, a mischievous glint appearing in its eyes. "Oh, I almost forgot to mention," the creature remarked, its voice laced with a hint of cruel amusement. "One of the Seven Kin of Purgatory has already infiltrated this island. Hahahaha!"
"Prepare yourselves to meet your inevitable demise!" the creature taunted, its laughter echoing through the clearing.
BANG!
With a swift, decisive movement, Finn delivered a powerful blow to the creature’s head, rendering it unconscious. He turned his attention towards his companions, his expression one of grim determination.
"It seems that the trials must be temporarily suspended," Finn announced, his voice laced with a hint of grim resolve. "The enemy has arrived!"
Finn produced a signal flare and fired it into the sky. The bright crimson flare arced high above, signaling the commencement of hostilities.
Finn turned his attention towards Levy. "Levy, please escort Gajeel back to the base camp immediately."
"Be careful," Levy replied, her voice laced with concern.
Levy nodded in agreement, carefully supporting Gajeel as they made their way towards the base camp.
Finn then turned his gaze towards Erza. "The situation demands immediate action. I must proceed to locate the Master and apprise him of the unfolding events," Finn stated, his voice laced with a sense of urgency.
Erza nodded in understanding. "I shall undertake the task of locating Wendy. I suspect that the member of the Seven Kin of Purgatory mentioned by that dog-headed creature is none other than Mest," Erza stated, her voice laced with a hint of suspicion.
"Regardless of whether your suspicions prove accurate, Mest undoubtedly poses a significant threat, and he must be dealt with swiftly," Finn stated, his voice laced with a hint of grim determination.
Having reached a mutual understanding, Finn and Erza set off in separate directions. Finn proceeded towards the grave of the first guild master, Mavis Vermilion, while Nancy, utilizing her wings, carried Erza aloft into the sky, in an attempt to locate Wendy and Mest from a vantage point above the island.

Meanwhile, upon a cliff overlooking the vast expanse of the ocean, Wendy, along with Lily and Carla, stood poised, their gazes fixed upon Mest, who stood across from them. Lily’s eyes were narrowed in suspicion, his expression one of intense scrutiny.
"Wait a moment," Wendy interjected, her voice laced with a hint of apprehension as she sensed the escalating tension between Lily and Mest. "I believe there might be a misunderstanding here."
"Wendy, you should stay out of this!" Carla interjected, her voice laced with a hint of urgency as she attempted to restrain Wendy from intervening.
"Just who exactly are you?" Lily demanded, his voice laced with a tone of suspicion.
"What... what are you talking about?" Mest responded, his brow furrowed in confusion.
"If my assessment is correct," Lily stated, his voice laced with a hint of certainty, "then you possess the ability to manipulate memories through the use of magic."
"You have employed this magic to deceive the members of the guild, leading them to believe that you are one of their own," Lily continued, his voice laced with a hint of accusation. "This includes the matter concerning Mystogan; however, upon closer examination, numerous inconsistencies and discrepancies become apparent."
Mest remained silent, his head bowed low in contemplation as he considered Lily’s words.
"Well then," Lily stated, his voice laced with a hint of challenge as he positioned himself protectively in front of Wendy, his body beginning to undergo a dramatic transformation, his size increasing significantly. "What further explanation do you have to offer?"
Suddenly, Mest lifted his head, his form disappearing instantaneously. Lily was caught off guard by Mest’s sudden movement.
"Instantaneous movement magic!" Lily exclaimed, his voice laced with surprise.
Lily’s gaze shifted towards Wendy, who stood behind him, her expression one of alarm. Mest had reappeared before Wendy, seizing her in his grasp.
Lily swiftly turned around, his intention being to rescue Wendy from Mest’s clutches.
