Chapter 612 Goodbye, Homeland

Matsui Yusuke had been pretending all along.

He had also been waiting for the best opportunity, one that would allow him to break free from Chen Jin’s control and regain his freedom.

Therefore, Matsui Yusuke would not miss this chance.

The six Mitre warriors reacted instantly, reaching for their guns to aim at Chen Jin. They all knew how terrifying Chen Jin was.

However, these were just ordinary soldiers, not special forces.

The moment Matsui Yusuke spoke, Chen Jin had already moved, sweeping past Matsui Yusuke like a shadow and appearing directly in front of one of the Mitre warriors. The warrior’s pupils contracted sharply to the size of pinpricks. Before he could even utter a sound, a sharp short knife had already severed his head!

The entire process took less than two seconds.

If it were Chen Jin at his peak, he might have accomplished it in about one second.

With the death of this Mitre warrior, the remaining five fell into a brief state of confusion, which gave Chen Jin an opportunity to seize the moment.

Chen Jin reawakened his muscle memory, transforming into a demon who slaughtered without mercy!

The killing continued!

The remaining five Mitre warriors were utterly defenseless, cut down by Chen Jin like chicks, their demise brutal to witness.

Matsui Yusuke stood there foolishly, not daring to move.

Blood had splattered all over his face, nearly dyeing it red. The strong smell of blood awakened the deep-seated fear within him!

Chen Jin finished off these six grasshoppers and turned to look at Matsui Yusuke.

Meeting his icy gaze, Matsui Yusuke’s heart trembled, and he immediately knelt on the ground, saying, “Chen Jin, I didn’t mean to say that. I was trying to divert their attention for you. See, it worked, you’ve killed them all.”

Chen Jin did not respond.

Matsui Yusuke kowtowed frantically, begging for Chen Jin’s forgiveness.

Chen Jin’s voice was ice-cold as he said, “Don’t think I don’t know what you’re plotting. I’ll allow you to say your last words.”

“Don’t kill me, please don’t kill me.” Matsui Yusuke continued to utter meaningless drivel.

Chen Jin shook his head, having lost his patience.

He walked up to Matsui Yusuke and plunged a knife into his neck. After struggling for a few moments, Matsui Yusuke’s life ebbed away, and he died completely.

He once had a chance to live, but he failed to cherish it.

Misfortune caused by heaven can be survived, but misfortune caused by oneself is impossible to live through.

This was the best epitaph for Matsui Yusuke’s life.

After killing everyone in the cockpit, Chen Jin wasted no time and went to the first-floor deck room to find Yamari Chiho.

Yamari Chiho was startled to see Chen Jin covered in blood.

“You, you killed them all?” she asked.

Chen Jin grunted, “Matsui Yusuke exposed my identity. If I hadn’t killed them, we would be the ones dead.”

Yamari Chiho clenched her fists and said, “They deserved to die. My parents died at their hands. They are demons on this land!”

“Let’s not talk about that for now. Come home with me, grab your important things, and then leave Dongying,” Chen Jin said.

Yamari Chiho grunted and followed Chen Jin out.

They had only an hour. After an hour, it would be almost dawn, and their actions would become much more troublesome.

Under the dim light, the two quickly returned home.

As soon as they opened the door, they saw Yamari Touryu standing at the entrance, causing Yamari Chiho to jump in fright, as Yamari Touryu was still holding a knife.

Upon seeing them, Yamari Touryu put down the knife. “Why did you suddenly come back? I thought a thief had broken in.”

Before he finished speaking, Yamari Touryu noticed the blood on Chen Jin and frowned. “Did you do something?”

“Let’s go inside and talk!”

After closing the door, Chen Jin truthfully said, “Grandfather, I killed six Mitre warriors. We must leave Dongying immediately and head to Huaguo.”

Yamari Touryu was shocked by Chen Jin’s words.

The Mitre warriors were true heavenly soldiers and generals, beings not to be trifled with. Once the Mitre base found out, the three of them would have no place to be buried.

He said worriedly, “What are you doing? Why did you have to provoke the Mitre warriors?”

Yamari Chiho quickly interjected, “Grandpa, please stop asking these questions. The deed is done. What we need to do now is leave Dongying and go to Huaguo. We can discuss the details on the way. I’ll go pack important things first, and you should get ready too.”

At this moment.

Yamari Touryu hesitated.

He looked at Chen Jin with a solemn gaze. “Have you regained your memory?”

Chen Jin did not deny it and nodded. “Yes, I remember everything now.”

“I cannot leave Dongying. This is the homeland where I have lived for sixty years, my hometown. How can I leave my home?” Yamari Touryu said, refusing their invitation.

He was already old and did not want any more trouble.

Yamari Chiho said anxiously, “Grandpa, Wuming not only killed six Mitre warriors, but also the heir of the Matsui family. If you don’t leave, you will be killed by them. Those families don’t care about who is right or wrong; they will just carry out indiscriminate killings.”

“I still don’t want to leave,” Yamari Touryu shook his head.

He was already an old man and did not want to die in a foreign land; he only wished to die on his native soil.

Yamari Chiho knew her grandfather was a stubborn old man and that it would be impossible to persuade him no matter what. She could only cast a pleading look at Chen Jin.

Without a word, Chen Jin struck Yamari Touryu’s neck with a palm chop, causing him to fall unconscious and collapse to the ground.

“Then you have no choice,” Chen Jin said.

“Chiho, you pack grandfather’s things, and I’ll pack ours. Let’s try to finish in ten minutes.”

Yamari Chiho reacted, “Okay!”

Ten minutes later.

The two had packed their essential belongings. Chen Jin carried a backpack in one hand and the unconscious Yamari Touryu over his shoulder with the other as they left.

As Yamari Chiho left, she took a deep look at the seaside cottage.

She knew this might be the last time she saw her home. If there was ever a chance to return to her homeland, it would likely be a vastly changed place.

Finally, she resolutely turned her head and followed Chen Jin’s footsteps towards the port.

Another twenty minutes passed.

The three successfully boarded the ship. Chen Jin entered the cockpit and steered the boat away from the port, heading directly for the southeastern province of Huaguo.

Yamari Chiho stood on the deck, watching as the Ryukyu Islands, where she had lived for over twenty years, disappeared into the horizon. An boundless melancholy welled up in her chest, and tears involuntarily streamed down her cheeks.

Facing the dawn glow, Yamari Chiho murmured to herself.

“Goodbye, my homeland.”
