The bustling street under the night sky.
Chen Jinzhao stood on the street, bewildered.
Yamanashi Chiho had vanished for five minutes. In these five minutes, Chen Jinzhao had thought of many things, causing his heart to grow increasingly anxious.
Over the past three years.
Yamanashi Chiho and Chen Jinzhao had been almost inseparable. Such sudden disappearances were rare.
What made Chen Jinzhao even more distressed was that he couldn't reach Yamanashi Chiho by phone.
What should he do?
In his panic, Chen Jinzhao decided to search for his wife in the direction Yamanashi Chiho had left. He recalled Yamanashi Chiho being poor with directions and possibly having gone too far to remember the way back. Chen Jinzhao muttered to himself, "How could she be so careless?"
After circling the area several times, he still found no trace of Yamanashi Chiho.
A deep sense of dread welled up in Chen Jinzhao's heart, fearing that this might have been the last time he saw Yamanashi Chiho.
In his extreme helplessness, Chen Jinzhao forced himself to calm down, as a tearing pain echoed in the depths of his mind.
"Calm down!"
"I need to be calm." he murmured to himself.
Chen Jinzhao deliberately searched in less crowded corners and finally, at the mouth of an alley, he spotted Yamanashi Chiho surrounded by several young men in suits. Before Chen Jinzhao could move to rescue her, he saw Yamanashi Chiho being dragged into a car by these men, who then sped away.
Stunned for a moment, Chen Jinzhao took off in pursuit.
Two legs were ultimately no match for four wheels. He could only watch as the van disappeared.
Chen Jinzhao's mind went blank, and he immediately hailed a taxi. Pointing at the van ahead, he said, "Please chase them, I can pay you a lot of money."
The driver, hearing Chen Jinzhao speak Chinese, took a while to understand what he meant, especially seeing Chen Jinzhao's anxious face. As he stepped on the accelerator, the driver said, "Young man, don't be too anxious. I'll help you chase them."
"Is there someone very important to you in that car?"
Chen Jinzhao couldn't speak Japanese, but he understood what the driver was saying. He nodded quickly and implored the driver to go faster.
The driver nodded, "Alright, then fasten your seatbelt."
He stepped on the accelerator again, and the taxi seemed to take flight, rapidly pursuing the van.
However, the van was not slow. Perhaps because they had backing, they drove recklessly even within the city limits.
After following for a full half hour, the van finally stopped in front of a courtyard.
The driver then slowed down, frowning as he looked at the van and the mansion not far ahead. Chen Jinzhao hastily pointed at the van in front, begging the driver to pursue, but the driver stopped five hundred meters away and told Chen Jinzhao, "Oh dear, I'm afraid I can't go any further. I can only take you this far. You can get out here, and I won't take your money."
"They've taken your wife, haven't they?"
Facing the driver's inquiry, Chen Jinzhao looked confused, then nodded in affirmation.
The driver looked troubled, then sighed and said, "It seems you're an outsider and don't understand the rules of Edo City. Do you know whose mansion that is? If your wife is in his hands, she likely won't have a good outcome."
Meeting Chen Jinzhao's angry and bewildered gaze, the driver explained, "The owner of this mansion is Matsui Yusuke, a notorious second-generation rich brat in Edo City. This Matsui Yusuke is a lecher; many women have been ruined by him. Some women have even died in his house, yet no one dares to trouble him. That's why I say your wife might be in danger. You cannot go against the Matsui family, do you understand?"
Hearing about the Matsui family, Chen Jinzhao's headache worsened.
He vaguely felt like he had heard that name somewhere before.
Seeing his state, the driver shook his head and said, "I've told you all I can. You're on your own now."
Afraid to linger, the driver let Chen Jinzhao out and quickly drove away.
Chen Jinzhao, holding his throbbing head, gritted his teeth and walked to the main gate of the mansion. The people from the van had already brought Yamanashi Chiho inside. Chen Jinzhao knew he couldn't waste any more time, or Yamanashi Chiho would suffer.
The mansion's gate was black, with guards standing on either side.
When the two security guards saw Chen Jinzhao, they immediately waved their batons at him, shouting, "What kind of stray dog are you? This is the Matsui family's mansion. Unauthorized personnel are not allowed to loiter at the entrance. Get lost!"
Chen Jinzhao, naturally, refused.
Because he knew Yamanashi Chiho was inside.
Unable to communicate verbally, Chen Jinzhao had no choice but to force his way into Matsui Yusuke's mansion.
The two security guards immediately moved to surround him.
Since this unauthorized person refused to leave, they couldn't be blamed for resorting to violence. The two guards immediately stepped forward, swinging their batons. Chen Jinzhao instinctively blocked. The baton struck his arm as expected, but it wasn't as painful as he anticipated.
Chen Jinzhao realized this and, acting on instinct, snatched the baton with his other hand, subduing the two guards with extreme ease.
To be safe, Chen Jinzhao knocked them both out with the baton, preventing them from raising an alarm.
After dealing with the two guards, Chen Jinzhao pushed open the gate and entered.
At that time.
In the backyard of the mansion.
Yamanashi Chiho had been thrown there by several of Matsui Yusuke's subordinates. Matsui Yusuke had also ordered his men to tie Yamanashi Chiho up.
Matsui Yusuke looked at the struggling Yamanashi Chiho and chuckled, "There's no need to struggle. No one can save you."
Yamanashi Chiho's tear-filled eyes held a unique charm in Matsui Yusuke's eyes.
He had always preferred voluptuous women or those with breathtaking beauty. He rarely encountered someone as demure and delicate as Yamanashi Chiho.
The more Yamanashi Chiho struggled, the more pleased he became.
"I told you to stop struggling. This is the Matsui family's territory. Your struggles are futile," Matsui Yusuke said.
Yamanashi Chiho felt a deep despair. Biting her lip, she said, "Before you do anything, can you tell me about my husband's origins?"
"Who is your husband?" Matsui Yusuke asked, bewildered.
He didn't know his subordinates had used such tactics to lure Yamanashi Chiho here. A subordinate stepped forward and explained the reason to Matsui Yusuke. Matsui Yusuke suddenly realized, "Haha, those were just my subordinates deceiving you. I didn't expect you to fall for it so foolishly."
Yamanashi Chiho had actually guessed this outcome early on.
But hearing these words from Matsui Yusuke's mouth still brought her a deep sense of disappointment.
She wasn't afraid of death, only of dying meaninglessly.
Matsui Yusuke's laughter gradually subsided, and his expression became unpredictable.
At first, he thought Yamanashi Chiho was out of her mind. But after carefully considering her words, he realized a very serious issue—
Yamanashi Chiho didn't know her husband's background.
Could it be.
That person really was Chen Jinzhao?
