Chapter 8: Chapter 8: Giving Her Money
"Serena, I need to change mine too. Let’s use the same one," Elias Lancaster knew what she was thinking.
Serena Yeats wanted to say something, but when she saw the determined look in Elias Lancaster’s eyes, she dared not speak.
"Serena, just put the SIM card in the phone and start using it," Elias Lancaster said in a gentle tone, afraid of scaring her.
Then, he had someone upgrade her plan so she wouldn’t have to worry about running out of data.
As they walked out of the phone store, Elias Lancaster held her small hand and went to buy a tablet and a laptop for her, to help with her studies.
Mrs. Lancaster looked at her son’s actions in front of her, a smile of an aunt appeared on her face, and she couldn’t help but think with emotion that her son had finally come around.
As they walked out of the mall, Serena Yeats finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Once in the car, Serena Yeats immersed herself in her thoughts.
She thought she should thank Old Madam Lancaster for buying her so much, spending hundreds of thousands in one go.
"Old Madam, thank you, it was too extravagant today."
Mrs. Lancaster looked at her with a face full of heartache, "Serena, we’re family, there’s no need to thank us. If you need anything in the future, just tell Elias.
Besides, it was Elias who paid today. If you must thank someone, thank him."
She sincerely wanted Serena to be her daughter-in-law, thinking it was best to bring them together since her son had no women around him all these years.
Now suddenly there’s a child, and seeing her son’s considerate behavior today, it seems promising.
She could see that Serena is a good kid, far better than those with ulterior motives.
The Lancaster Family doesn’t need a marriage alliance.
Encouraged by Old Madam Lancaster, Serena glanced at the indifferent man beside her and whispered, "Thank you... Master Lancaster."
Mrs. Lancaster’s eyes twinkled with a smile, "Master Lancaster is what outsiders call him. Family calls him Elias."
Serena Yeats smiled at Old Madam Lancaster.
The man gave a slight "Hmm" as a response.
Mrs. Lancaster looked at her son’s demeanor, feeling a bit exasperated.
When they got home, Nanny Livingston saw them return and immediately had someone serve the meal. "Old Madam, Young Master, Young Madam, dinner is ready."
Mr. Lancaster was sent on errands by Mrs. Lancaster, so he couldn’t meet them.
They sat at the dining table, and in front of Serena Yeats was a custom-made prenatal meal prepared by the nutritionist.
She was too thin, and if she didn’t eat more nutritiously, she might suffer when the two babies in her belly grow bigger.
Serena Yeats looked at the large portion of the nutritious meal in front of her and turned to Nanny Livingston.
Nanny Livingston smiled and said, "Young Madam, this is a nutritious meal tailored for you by the nutritionist. Your body needs the nutrition."
Serena Yeats nodded and thanked her.
Mrs. Lancaster sat beside Serena Yeats, and Elias Lancaster sat across from her.
"Serena, you’re too thin, eat more."
Serena Yeats nodded, "Thank you, Old Madam."
As she ate the nutritious meal in front of her, she found it quite tasty and liked it.
But...
The portion of the nutritious meal was a bit large. She only ate a small portion before feeling full, watching unwillingly as the servants took it away.
Elias Lancaster noticed, "Serena, being full is enough for us; otherwise, the stomach won’t handle it."
Serena Yeats thought for a moment and agreed.
After dinner, Elias Lancaster took out a bank card and placed it in front of Serena Yeats. "Serena, take this and use it. The password is your birthday."
Serena Yeats looked at the bank card on the table, bewildered.
Why give her money just like that?
She had already spent so much of Elias Lancaster’s money today; she shouldn’t spend more of his money.
Mrs. Lancaster sighed softly, picked up the card, and placed it in her hand, "Elias gave this to you. Take it; don’t overthink it. It’s what he should give you."
This isn’t about should or shouldn’t!
"Old Madam, I can’t accept this card. I’m fine here, there’s nothing I need to buy, and I don’t spend much."
She quickly placed the card back on the table.
Mrs. Lancaster glanced at Elias Lancaster.
Elias Lancaster looked at her with gentle eyes, "Serena, just hold onto it first. Buy whatever you need; no need to save."
Serena Yeats thought for a moment, "Then I’ll hold onto it first."
She just needed to hold onto it, and at worst, not use it.
Mrs. Lancaster raised a smile, "Ah, that’s right. Serena, slowly adapt to life here. In the future, life will only get better and better."
Then she looked at Elias Lancaster. "If anyone dares to mistreat you, tell me. If anyone is unkind to you, they are unkind to me. I will definitely protect you."
Serena Yeats knew that Old Madam Lancaster was serious and meant what she said.
In the future, she would also strive to create her own world and life!
"Thank you, Old Madam," she said sincerely.
After sitting for a while and chatting with Serena Yeats, Mrs. Lancaster returned to the Lancaster Family, giving them time to nurture their relationship.
Once Mrs. Lancaster left, Serena Yeats immediately went back to her room.
Elias Lancaster watched her escape-like retreat and felt a bit frustrated, wondering if he was really so frightening.
Sighing, he got up and went to the study to deal with work.
Serena Yeats read and did her homework in her room.
Suddenly, she remembered the air conditioning issue from the afternoon and wanted to find Nanny Livingston to ask about it.
She stood up, stretched a bit, cautiously peeked downstairs after stepping out of her room, and only dared to head down when she saw that Elias Lancaster wasn’t there.
But downstairs, she couldn’t find Nanny Livingston and didn’t know where she was.
After asking around, she learned that Nanny Livingston was in the garden.
The maid went to call her.
Serena Yeats thanked her and sat on the sofa to wait.
Moments later.
Nanny Livingston rushed in from outside and respectfully said, "Young Madam, you were looking for me?"
Serena Yeats was a bit surprised, "No need to hurry, it’s not urgent."
Nanny Livingston smiled, "Alright, next time I won’t rush. If you need anything, just let me know, Young Madam."
Serena Yeats stood up, "Nanny Livingston, this afternoon when I was asleep, did someone come into my room?"
"Young Madam, please sit first," Nanny Livingston helped her sit down, "In the afternoon, both Old Madam and Young Master came by."
Serena Yeats didn’t expect that Elias Lancaster and Old Madam Lancaster had come in.
"So, was it Old Madam who turned on the air conditioning in my room?" she quickly asked.
After understanding the situation.
Serena Yeats let Nanny Livingston go to rest.
Lost in thought, she found it unbelievable that Old Madam and Master had entered, and she hadn’t noticed a thing; she must have slept deeply.
Serena Yeats sighed. It seemed she should turn on the air conditioning.
She figured that with such a large place using electricity, a small part like hers wouldn’t make much of a difference, so she decided to turn it on.
And so, Serena Yeats made up her mind.
She returned to her room and turned on the air conditioning.
After a while, the cool air from the air conditioning drove away the heat in her room.
Living here now, Elias Lancaster would drive her to and from school each day.
Here, she didn’t have much to spend money on, but she still wanted to earn her own money. She felt it was important to have her own money, so she planned to continue her part-time job.
The money Elias Lancaster gave was his, not earned by her.
She yawned, feeling sleepy lately.
Never mind, she thought, there would always be a way. Time to sleep.
Without the disturbance of mosquitoes and sweltering heat thanks to the air conditioning, she slept soundly.
At seven in the morning, she woke up, got out of bed, and washed up before going downstairs.
Arriving at the dining room, she saw Elias Lancaster already having breakfast.
When Nanny Livingston saw her up, "Young Madam, you’re awake. Please sit down, and I’ll bring you breakfast."
"Alright, thank you!" Serena Yeats sat at a distance from Elias Lancaster, looking at him, "Master Lancaster, good morning."
Elias Lancaster looked helpless, "Serena, use a different name."
Serena remembered Old Madam Lancaster’s words yesterday, that Master Lancaster was what outsiders called him. Now that she’s being asked to change, surely she couldn’t just call him by his name. Maybe she should...
"Uncle, good morning!"
Elias Lancaster was speechless, deciding to take it slowly. He simply responded with a sound and looked at her.
"It’s a rest day today since it’s the weekend. Do you want to stay home or go out for a stroll? We have a driver at home who can arrange transportation. I’ll be going to work."
