Chapter 62: Saving the Child

Chapter 62: Chapter 62: Saving the Child

Serena Yeats looked up and saw a woman lying above, wearing a nurse’s uniform, her eyes full of madness.

"Nia, don’t move."

Serena shouted, and Nia instantly stood still.

"Dolae, calm down, I can give you anything you want, just don’t hurt him." Serena quickly said.

Dolae held the child in one hand, looking at her with a sarcastic expression.

"If it weren’t for you, Elias Lancaster wouldn’t have sent me abroad. If you hadn’t appeared, I would be the Young Madam of The Lancaster Family. They didn’t keep their word; they chose me first.

Why should you get everything I wanted? Just because of you, he didn’t want me anymore, and sent me abroad. Serena Yeats, I’ll make you regret it.

And I will make The Lancaster Family regret everything they did. They were the ones who provoked me first..."

Serena looked up, her eyes fixated on the child in her hand.

The child had stopped crying, but being held by Dolae like that was very uncomfortable, its limbs constantly flailing.

"Move again and I’ll smash you to death, you bastard."

Dolae was very agitated, slapping the child. Serena’s face changed dramatically.

"It’s my fault, I shouldn’t have come, just don’t hurt my child. I admit it, I’ll give Elias Lancaster back to you."

Dolae looked at the child in her hand, then turned and saw Elias Lancaster at the rooftop entrance.

"Don’t let them in, or I’ll throw him off."

Serena turned around and saw Elias Lancaster and his childhood friend.

Elias’s eyes followed the blood flowing down Serena’s leg.

However, Serena seemed not to feel the pain, her gaze never leaving the child.

Elias saw it on the surveillance and rushed over immediately.

Nanny Livingston retreated, moving to Elias’s side, explaining the situation to them.

"You can’t go in, or she really will let go."

Elias looked at the bodyguards beside him.

"Can you come from the side? We’ll draw her attention.

The bodyguards nodded.

Nanny Livingston was instantly anxious.

"Young Master, if we’re discovered... the little baby..."

Nanny Livingston was very worried; if something happened, Serena wouldn’t be able to bear it.

Elias watched the blood still flowing from Serena, and said in a cold voice, "We can’t wait any longer."

But as soon as the bodyguards took another step, a shout came.

"If anyone dares to come in, I’ll kill this little bastard."

Serena, frightened, turned back and shouted.

"Don’t come over, nobody come over."

Though crazy, panic had already settled in Dolae’s heart, she shouted at Serena.

"Tell them to leave, let me go, and I’ll give you the child."

Elias’s voice came from outside the door.

"Okay, but you must promise not to harm the child."

Dolae quickly added.

"Okay, but you must promise not to move against the Thorne Family, and give me 10% of The Lancaster Corporation’s shares. Also, Elias Lancaster, I want you to marry me!"

Elias agreed as well.

"Alright, I need to send someone over to give you the share transfer documents, you have to sign first."

Dolae couldn’t believe it, thinking she’d soon have shares of The Lancaster Corporation and could marry Elias, she immediately said.

"Alright."

Serena was momentarily stunned when she heard Elias agree.

Ronan Keaton looked at a bodyguard beside him.

"Once she leaves, don’t let her go."

The bodyguard nodded.

Five minutes later.

The bodyguard walked over with the document.

Serena quickly took it, "It’s all ready for you, can I have the child back?"

But Dolae burst into laughter.

"Get out," she pointed at the bodyguard, "Did you really think I’d fall for this? If I give the child back to you, would I make it out alive?"

The bodyguard could only comply, retreating.

Dolae didn’t know she had no way out, the moment she took this child, her escape route was gone.

So she raised the child.

"Serena Yeats, I want you to divorce Elias Lancaster, divorce him now. Also, kneel and admit your mistake to me."

Dolae demanded.

Serena’s gaze never left the child in her hand.

The child was currently in a suspended state, if it fell from above, something terrible...

"What, don’t you want your child?"

"I do, I’ll divorce, I admit my fault." Serena said, her voice trembling.

Then, she shouted.

"Elias, have them prepare the divorce papers, I’ll sign." Serena said.

At this moment Elias looked at his leg, he hated his own powerlessness and inability to do anything.

Dolae’s attention was focused on Elias’s response, she was eagerly anticipating.

At this moment, Nia suddenly maneuvered around and rushed toward Dolae, reaching out to grab the child.

However...

Startled, Dolae reflexively let go, the child in her hand falling.

"No..."

"Baby..."

Serena’s face turned pale. She rushed towards the child, and at the moment of catching it, she crashed heavily to the ground, holding the child tightly, the pain nearly making her faint.

"Serena..."

Elias immediately got up, enduring the pain in his leg, limping towards Serena with a broken leg.

Nia reacted, grabbing Dolae who tried to run.

The baby seemed to feel safe, smiling in Serena’s arms.

Seeing the child was alright, Serena passed out.

"Serena, Serena..."

Elias tried to take the child from her arms, but she held on tightly, unwilling to let go.

He held her, speaking softly, "Serena, it’s me, Elias, your husband, can you let go of the baby?"

Having no other option, Elias had to use a bit more force to pry Serena’s hands open, handing the child to Ronan Keaton.

"Place the baby in Serena’s room."

The bodyguards helped Elias back into the wheelchair while the doctors and nurses lifted Serena onto the stretcher.

"Quickly..."

Serena was pushed into the emergency room, worried about another hemorrhage with all that blood loss.

If that were the case, it would be trouble.

Fortunately, in the end, there was no major issue, just some bruises.

When the doctor announced the result, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

"Elias, stay with Serena, I’ll handle it." Ronan said coldly.

"Mm."

Serena, traumatized and weakened due to previous hemorrhaging, bled so much again that she remained unconscious for several days before awakening.

As soon as she woke, the first thing she did was look for the child, sitting up in bed with a jolt.

Frightening Old Madam Lancaster and Nanny Livingston.

Both quickly brought one child each to her side.

"Serena, look, the babies are right here."

Seeing them made Serena smile, but she suddenly started to cry.

"Serena, it’s alright, don’t cry."

Old Madam Lancaster quickly comforted her.

"Where’s Elias?"

Serena asked.

"He’s gone to handle matters. Just left," Old Madam Lancaster said. "Serena, are you hungry?"

Serena nodded.

Nanny Livingston quickly put the baby down and went to prepare some food.

Old Madam Lancaster took out two green booklets and handed them to Serena.

"These are our babies’ birth certificates. See if you like the names, if not, we can change them."
