Chapter 52: Going to Rescue in Person?

Chapter 52: Chapter 52: Going to Rescue in Person?

Nathan Sawyer remained silent.

Serena Yeats had made up her mind, she was her best friend, and she liked Brandon Grayson, so she had to help her.

Of course, she couldn’t let her know that. If she knew that Brandon had someone in his heart, she would only keep her distance.

"Stop thinking about my stuff. How about you? You got the certificate first, then proposed, so what about the wedding? Your Elias Lancaster really isn’t following the usual process!"

"Elias told me that it’s not convenient now, so we’ll have the wedding after I’ve had the baby.

He said I don’t need to worry about anything; I just need to show up looking pretty when the time comes."

Serena Yeats’s face was full of sweetness.

Nathan Sawyer pinched her cheek.

"I’m saying, Serena darling, are you really so bold now?"

Serena Yeats laughed.

"Of course."

Nathan Sawyer laughed, "What about your face?"

Standing in the corner of the stairs, Elias Lancaster retracted his foot; he was initially going downstairs.

But when he heard Serena Yeats’s laughter, he knew he had found the right person. Knowing she could forget those unhappy things, he breathed a sigh of relief.

However, he unexpectedly got a surprising piece of news.

He made a call to invite Brandon Grayson over for a meal.

Nathan Sawyer and Brandon Grayson found the meal flavorless, each preoccupied with their own thoughts.

After finishing the meal,

Elias Lancaster and Brandon Grayson went to the study.

Nathan Sawyer occasionally glanced towards the stairway.

"Serena, what is your President Lancaster doing with him?" Nathan asked worriedly.

"Don’t worry, they’re probably discussing business."

After a long while,

finally, they saw someone coming downstairs.

Nathan Sawyer quickly stood up.

Brandon Grayson glanced at her and then said to Serena Yeats with a smile, "Sister-in-law, it’s getting late, I shall take my leave now, sorry for disturbing you."

Serena Yeats stood up, supporting her waist.

"No problem, come over more often when you have time."

Brandon Grayson responded, "Then I’ll be going first."

Serena Yeats quickly nudged Nathan Sawyer, "I’m not very mobile, Nathan, help me see him off."

Nathan Sawyer glanced at Serena Yeats, her eyes filled with resentment, but finally followed out.

Once outside, Brandon Grayson looked back at Nathan Sawyer.

"No need to see me off, go back and rest."

Nathan Sawyer kept a straight face.

"Who said I’m here to see you off."

Brandon Grayson raised an eyebrow, suddenly leaning forward. "Is that so?"

Nathan Sawyer stared at his magnified handsome face, she could even smell the refreshing scent on him, and her eyes widened, breathing became erratic.

"Why are you so close to me?"

Nathan Sawyer stepped back a couple of steps, her heart beating wildly.

Brandon Grayson’s gaze fixed on her eyes, then moved downward to her belly.

Nathan Sawyer felt guilty under his gaze, looking elsewhere.

"Just go."

After speaking, Nathan Sawyer turned and went back into the villa.

She ran quickly, afraid that if she was slow, her secret would be discovered.

Brandon Grayson watched her retreating figure and sighed.

That night, he didn’t know what came over him, he clearly knew he wasn’t usually that bad with alcohol, knew it was her, yet he couldn’t control himself.

He himself couldn’t understand why.

Just now Elias Lancaster told him to shoulder the responsibilities of a man.

Plus, seeing Nathan Sawyer throw up today, he sort of understood, but knew it wasn’t the time to talk.

Nathan Sawyer sat in the living room for a while.

Serena Yeats yawned, "Nathan, you live next door, I’m so tired, I need to sleep, you are also in a special condition, better sleep early."

Nathan Sawyer held Serena Yeats’s arm, "You go to sleep quickly, or else, your President Lancaster might think I’m trying to steal his wife."

Nathan Sawyer helped Serena Yeats upstairs, helped her lie down, tucked her in, switched off the light, and left the room.

Where she ran into Elias Lancaster.

She pointed to the room.

"Serena’s asleep, she was already dozing off as I left, I’m heading to bed too, you should rest early as well."

Days went by, and as Serena Yeats’s pregnancy progressed, her belly got so large she couldn’t see her feet, nor could she squat down.

Her feet swelled so much she couldn’t wear shoes and had to wear Elias Lancaster’s slippers every day.

Today, Elias Lancaster took Serena to The Lancaster Family home for a meal.

Elias Lancaster sat next to Old Master Lancaster, watching Serena Yeats and Mrs. Lancaster chatting and laughing in the yard with her.

Old Master Lancaster sighed, "Our Lancaster family is about to get lively."

But Elias Lancaster’s expression changed slightly, showing a trace of concern.

After dinner,

Elias Lancaster looked at Old Master Lancaster, and they tacitly went to the study.

"Something to say?"

Old Master Lancaster asked.

Elias Lancaster spoke in a low voice, "I have to leave for a while in a few days. Please take care of the company, and Mom will have to look after Serena."

Old Master Lancaster looked sharply at Elias Lancaster.

"You’re going personally to rescue?"

Elias Lancaster nodded.

Old Master Lancaster’s hand clenched into a fist.

"Elias, you’re not a soldier now, you’re an ordinary businessman, let them handle it."

Elias Lancaster lowered his eyes, a fierce aura surrounding him.

"Dad, I was once..." he paused, "I will definitely bring Serena’s family back safely."

Old Master Lancaster was deeply worried.

"How long will you be gone?"

"Not sure yet."

Old Master Lancaster sighed, realizing why he suddenly brought her home, leaving the company behind to spend time with his wife.

He already had a plan when he got the news.

"When are you leaving?"

Elias Lancaster shook his head.

"I’m waiting for the team to be ready and the location to be confirmed."

"Does Serena know?"

Seeing Elias Lancaster’s silence, Old Master Lancaster understood.

"Serena is still young, pregnant with twins now, she’d be upset and scared. Come back soon."

Elias Lancaster also wanted to be with her, to be there when she gave birth.

But... she longed for her family, and now that her family was in trouble, he had to go and bring them back safely.

Old Master Lancaster patted his son’s shoulder.

"Go, we’ll be here, and you have childhood friends too."

Old Master Lancaster thought for a moment and added, "You have to tell Serena, don’t let her worry needlessly."

Elias Lancaster pursed his lips.

"I don’t know how to bring it up, she can’t be stressed right now."

"Such a big matter, you must tell her."

Elias Lancaster shook his head; the issue with her family can’t be revealed to her yet.

Now Elias Lancaster still wasn’t fully confident; what if things went wrong?

It’s better not to let Serena know for now.

At night, Serena Yeats was sitting on the bed after showering.

She couldn’t sit for long now, her back hurt terribly.

Elias Lancaster came out of his shower and saw her rubbing her back.

"Your back hurts again?"

Serena Yeats smiled at him.

"The last month is so hard to get through, I feel like even breathing is tiring now."

Elias Lancaster felt sorry for her but had no solutions.

Serena Yeats was carrying twins, she was suffering more.

"How about we check into the hospital? It’s safer."
