Chapter 297 - 298: I Can Still Fight for Another Day

Chapter 297: Chapter 298: I Can Still Fight for Another Day

Rumble!

A hundred-meter stretch of city wall crumbled with a roar, including a watchtower atop it.

Countless bricks and stones flew into the air, raining down and striking the soldiers in the plaza outside, leaving many with bleeding heads.

Some soldiers who were too close were even buried under the debris. Dust billowed into the sky, forming a yellow haze that enveloped the surroundings.

"The wall’s breached!"

"Such a long wall!"

"What’s going on?"

"Is it the monsters inside?"

The surrounding soldiers and knights scattered in panic, dodging the airborne bricks and stones, fearing they’d be the next to fall.

Crash!

"Cough, cough... Damn it, are they really monsters? To have such destructive power from this distance is insane!" Benson pushed off the shattered bricks covering him, struggling to his feet with the help of a pile of rubble. A trickle of blood seeped from the corner of his mouth.

He had intended for Saxon and Aeridar to exhaust each other, allowing him to swoop in like a fisherman. He never expected that the mere aftershock of Aeridar’s single blow would travel over a thousand meters from the palace center, reaching all the way to the city’s outer wall. It was truly terrifying.

Rumble-rumble-rumble!

In a corner of the city wall, a broken section was pushed aside. A dark blue beast, crackling with electricity, clambered up from the ground, shaking its head and flicking off dust and small bits of rubble. "I acknowledge your strength, but compared to that monster, Aeridar, you’re still far inferior."

"Golden Ring Aeridar, you say... Don’t worry, he’ll die by my hand too," Benson glared sinisterly at Vito, wisps of chilling cold radiating from him.

"Do you think we’re the only ones here? Heheh..." Vito met Benson’s gaze, sneering as he bared his fangs. "To tell you the truth, our objective isn’t to help your foolish Third Prince brother contend for some throne. Captain Aeridar’s goal... is to seize this country!"

Vito still respected Aeridar’s plan. Though the Fifth Prince was an unexpected variable, the chances of victory were still very high.

"Seize this country?!"

Benson’s eyes widened, his pupils suddenly contracting to pinpricks as he stared, shocked, towards the palace center. This news temporarily blanked his mind; it was too shocking!

"That’s right. By now, Micity Port has probably fallen. Before Captain Aeridar’s Grand Fleet and that miraculous treasure, who knows how many of Cydrick’s troops have been wiped out!" Vito mocked Benson.

"Grand Fleet! Miraculous treasure!"

After a long pause, Benson’s face turned incredibly grim. He thought he was the wolf, ready to snatch the lamb, but he never expected this lamb was actually a tiger in a fleece, capable of turning the tables on him.

"Even if Cydrick’s First Legion is annihilated, there’s still the Fourth Legion at Unzan Port. And if I reveal this information, there are still so many troops in Nakor City; you still won’t succeed," Benson took a few deep breaths, calming himself.

"Troops?"

Vito rubbed his forehead, bursting into laughter. "Hahahahaha... More troops are useless! Not to mention that divine weapon of the battlefield, how many people can truly withstand Captain Aeridar’s Conqueror’s Haki?"

"Besides, with me here, will I give you a chance to expose the truth? Or rather, are you underestimating me?" Vito’s body leaned slightly forward, glaring fiercely at Benson.

"Conqueror’s... Haki!"

Benson whispered the words, his face filled with extreme gravity.

Although he had never witnessed the power of Conqueror’s Haki, he knew that in the presence of its wielder, any number of lower-tier forces were meaningless. In other words, he had no more cards to play.

Looking up at Vito, Benson suddenly spun around and bolted, fleeing outwards.

"I told you, are you underestimating me?"

Seeing Benson flee, Vito understood his intention: he wanted to expose the truth. After all, if the truth was revealed before Aeridar finished his battle and the main force of the Grand Fleet arrived, the people in Nakor City would be besieged by countless armies. While they might not be completely wiped out, they would certainly suffer heavy losses.

Accompanied by a series of ’crackle-crackle’ sounds and dazzling lightning, Vito lunged forward, leaving afterimages as he instantly appeared behind Benson.

"Damn it, too fast..."

Benson turned his head, the blue-white lightning reflected in his eyes.

Boom!

Countless shattered stones exploded as a figure was sent flying.

"Cough!"

Crashing into the plaza ground and leaving a sizable crater, Benson struggled to his feet, coughing up a large mouthful of blood.

"This is bad!"

Suddenly, in Benson’s Observation Haki perception, a dangerous, massive creature charged towards him with extreme speed, already right behind him.

He had no time to counterattack. Benson immediately rolled on the ground.

Thwack!

A dazzling burst of lightning flashed instantly, and a monstrous claw reached out, leaving five deep claw marks on the ground.

Hurriedly scrambling up, Benson saw the five claw marks in the original crater and couldn’t help but feel cold sweat trickle down.

In terms of combat power, Vito was slightly inferior to Benson, but Vito’s speed was too great. Benson had to give his all; even a moment’s carelessness would give his opponent an opportunity to counterattack.

Therefore, Benson couldn’t even think of speaking, let alone having the chance. He had to focus entirely on dealing with Vito.

...

Whoosh!

Rumble-rumble-rumble!

Aeridar descended from the sky, crashing heavily onto the ground. The terrifying impact instantly created a large crater, and a shockwave radiated outwards, forming a massive airflow that swept through the surroundings, blowing away everything not firmly rooted nearby.

"Hey, hey, hey! Already down? How about this, you just die right here, is that good?"

Aeridar emerged from the crater with a disdainful expression, walking mockingly to stand less than ten meters from Saxon. Several bloody sword marks marred his bare upper body, radiating a chillingly ferocious aura.

"Cough, cough..."

Saxon struggled to his feet, blood occasionally dripping from his mouth. Picking up Quince, the Silver Sea Blade, again, Saxon looked at Aeridar with contempt, then said in a faint voice, "You damn brat, I can still fight for another day."

"Is that so...? Then fight. Show me."

Aeridar’s mouth curled into a smirk. He flashed in front of Saxon and threw a punch straight at him.

Dong!

Saxon blocked with his sword held before his chest.

The pitch-black fist struck Quince’s blade, emitting a booming sound like a great bronze bell.

A distorted wave of air swept out, and the ground immediately caved in, forming a large crater tens of meters in diameter.

The collision’s force transformed into a violent hurricane, forming a white aura that continuously expanded outwards, like a shockwave.

In a few breaths, with a colossal ’rumble-rumble-rumble’, it destroyed everything within several hundred meters, creating a vast, empty expanse.
