Chapter 223: Easterling City

Having been discovered, Kael didn't hesitate for a moment.

He directly pulled out a potion bottle and hurled it at the Nazgûl.

The Nazgûl was very cautious, not letting the bottle approach, raising its hand to destroy the bottle with a wave of dark power.

But the next second, the bottle shattered, erupting with extremely brilliant, blinding light.

Everyone instinctively closed their eyes. Those who couldn't react in time were instantly blinded by the radiance.

"Sunlight!" The Nazgûl sensed solar properties from the light. Though Nazgûl didn't fear sunlight like orcs and trolls, they still felt very uncomfortable.

The Nazgûl's black cloak spread like bat wings, quickly enveloping the wraith.

The fell beast was even more terrified and frenzied, trampling or injuring surrounding Easterlings and creating chaos.

That bottle contained flash potion Kael had prepared in advance, a practical magical brew that produced light, serving as an auxiliary alternative to the wand's Lumos charm.

Referencing Eärendil's Light and following Professor Snape's potion notes, Kael had infused the potion with solar properties, creating flash potions that could release sunlight.

This potion, somewhat useless in the magical world, became a "flash-bang" capable of dealing with Middle-earth's dark creatures.

The moment the flash potion exploded, Kael Apparated away from there.

When the light faded and the Nazgûl withdrew its cloak, seeing the fluorescent potion liquid scattered around the ground and Kael long gone, it immediately erupted with terrifying aura, blasting away everyone and buildings in the vicinity.

Countless casualties resulted.

The Nazgûl's hollow eyes flickered with angry flames. "Who was that?"

Unfortunately, no one could answer its question.

Angry and suspicious, the Nazgûl immediately commanded nearby Easterling tribes and kingdoms to hunt for the Easterling Kael had disguised as.

Meanwhile, Kael, dozens of miles away, naturally didn't know he was being hunted.

But being cautious, he changed into another Easterling appearance again.

Then continued toward Easterling City.

Moreover, he changed appearance at each tribe he visited.

Easterlings were basically tribal, with more primitive, backward architecture, rarely having cities like Rohan or Gondor.

But Easterling City was an exception.

It was once the residence of Khamûl, the former Easterling king.

Khamûl was the Nazgûl Kael had previously destroyed by annihilating his ring.

Khamûl had once been a ruler who unified Easterling tribes, but after wearing one of the Nine Rings for Men, he was corrupted and ultimately became Sauron's minion, controlling the Easterlings for Sauron.

Kael's previous elimination of Nazgûl Khamûl had inadvertently cut off Sauron's direct control path over the Easterlings, somewhat weakening Sauron's control over the east.

Easterling City was located east of the Sea of Rhûn, adjacent to the Orocarni Mountains.

The Orocarni was the largest mountain range in the Far East, meaning "Red Mountains" in Quenya. These mountains were built by the Valar after Morgoth destroyed the Two Lamps, and were also one of the dwarf awakening places. Four of the seven dwarf peoples awakened in the Orocarni Mountains.

Under Sauron's long rule of the east, some mountain dwarves were corrupted by Sauron, becoming dark dwarves who served him alongside the Easterlings as part of his forces.

Kael continued disguising himself while traveling eastward, finally reaching Easterling City after a month.

Originally Kael wouldn't have needed so long to arrive, but he discovered Nazgûl seemed to be searching for him. Their numbers increased to three, riding fell beasts patrolling Easterling territories.

Besides this, crows and vampire bats also appeared in large numbers day and night.

Not to mention Easterlings were also hunting strangers with an attitude of "better to kill wrongly than let one escape."

Seeing this, Kael could only be more careful hiding himself.

Obviously his previous appearance had alerted the Nazgûl and even Sauron.

If Sauron hadn't guessed it was him, he probably would have used the palantír to track his whereabouts long ago.

Palantíri came in various sizes with different viewing ranges. The one in Kael's possession was relatively small.

When viewing surroundings from Weathertop, it could see Rivendell to the east, South Downs to the south, the Shire to the west, and North Downs to the north.

Sauron's palantír was larger than Kael's, with vision covering not only all of Mordor but even parts of Gondor within its monitoring range.

Easterling territories were also within the palantír's sight.

If Sauron knew he was in Easterling territory, under palantír tracking, he'd probably only be able to flee in panic.

Easterling City claimed to be a city but was more like a large tribal settlement cluster, with a palace built from red giant stones at its center.

This was once the palace of Easterling leader Khamûl.

This city was a mixed bag, housing Wainriders, Balchoth, Chey people, and other Easterling tribal races. Before Nazgûl Khamûl's elimination, all tribes dared not covet this city and palace.

But after Khamûl's ring was destroyed by Kael and the Nazgûl Khamûl completely disappeared, all tribes became restless, wanting to occupy this city.

So when Kael arrived, he encountered two tribes slaughtering each other here.

The warring sides were the two most powerful Easterling tribes, the Wainriders and Balchoth.

Wainriders were famous for fighting from massive war chariots and had warred with Gondor multiple times.

The Balchoth had once been a fierce people southeast of Mirkwood. After Sauron's defeat in the Last Alliance, they were driven eastward by Gondor and elven armies.

The clash of bronze on bronze rang like thunder across the dusty plain as several thousand warriors from both tribes carved through each other's ranks. War chariots thundered past spurting fountains of crimson, their spiked wheels crushing fallen bodies with wet cracks that echoed above the cacophony. Wainrider battle cries—harsh, guttural roars—mixed with the higher-pitched Balchoth war songs until the very air seemed to scream. The metallic stench of blood mingled with churned earth and horse sweat, while ravens circled overhead like black omens against the smoke-hazed sky.

For a time, screams and battle cries were endless.

Kael Apparated to a deserted corner of the city wall, silently becoming a spectator.

The battle continued for a full day. The Wainriders and Balchoth were evenly matched, but with war chariots as combat weapons, the Wainriders gradually gained the upper hand.

Just as both sides were exhausted and the Wainriders were showing victorious smiles, a third party appeared on the battlefield.

From the shadow of pine-dark mountains, a wedge of Dorwinion cavalry erupted like a steel-tipped spear. Their mail gleamed silver where Wainrider armor showed rust, their curved sabers whistling through the air in perfect synchronization. Hoofbeats drummed against the earth in disciplined rhythm as they struck the exhausted combatants' flank—not the wild charge of desperate tribes, but the calculated advance of professional warriors. Blood sprayed in geometric arcs as their blades found gaps in battered armor, and the screams that followed carried a different note: the shriek of prey realizing the hunters had arrived.

"It's the Dorwinions!" Neither the Wainriders nor Balchoth on the battlefield had expected a third party to reap the spoils. Now severely damaged and exhausted, how could they resist these vigorous third forces?

Soon, under this Dorwinion cavalry's assault, both Wainriders and Balchoth collapsed at first contact and were continuously slaughtered.

Though also Easterlings, Dorwinions were among the few tribes not serving Sauron, even maintaining trade relations with Dorwinion elves, Dale, and the Woodland Realm, rare "moderate" Easterlings.

More importantly, Dorwinions had close relations with the Blue Wizards. Reportedly, the Blue Wizards had helped them escape Sauron's oppression and continued helping them resist his rule.

So seeing these Dorwinions, Kael's eyes immediately lit up.

After searching so long, finally there were traces of the Blue Wizards.

On the battlefield, the Dorwinions held the advantage, continuously overwhelming the Wainriders and Balchoth.

Just as the Wainriders and Balchoth were about to be defeated, the harsh, fearsome cry of fell beasts came from afar.

Seeing fell beasts flying from the distance, Wainriders and Balchoth showed hope and fanaticism, while Dorwinions showed fear. Even their horses became terrified and restless, completely disobeying commands.

Suddenly, battlefield momentum shifted again, with Dorwinion advantages completely vanishing.

Kael's expression also changed upon seeing fell beasts again.

These fell beasts always appeared with Nazgûl. He wanted to Apparate away to avoid the Nazgûl but didn't want to miss this chance to contact the Blue Wizards.

Kael hesitated, but he decided to stay.

Simultaneously, his appearance rapidly changed, growing many wrinkles, shrinking in height, and hunching his back. In moments he became a tall, thin, white-haired old man resembling Gandalf somewhat.

The fell beast quickly arrived at the battlefield. Its massive body swept low like a giant bulldozer, knocking down many Dorwinion cavalry.

In moments, Dorwinions suffered heavy casualties.

The Nazgûl riding the fell beast released fearsome, icy aura, while the fell beast made deafening, piercing shrieks that penetrated souls, causing people to lose courage, fill with despair and fear, and want to abandon resistance.

Dorwinion steeds couldn't resist the fell beast's intimidation, throwing off their riders before fleeing in terror.

Dorwinions fell into desperate straits. Ahead were the vengeful Wainriders and Balchoth lying in wait; behind were the more hopeless and irresistible Nazgûl and fell beasts.

Just as Kael considered whether to rescue these Dorwinions, the system suddenly responded.

[Hogwarts Check-in System: Located at Easterling City, check in?]

Kael's spirits lifted as he quickly thought. "Check in."

[Check-in successful. Congratulations on obtaining the Invisibility Cloak crafting method!]

Invisibility Cloak? Kael was surprised.

He hadn't expected to check in for the second Deathly Hallow so quickly.

But this check-in reward obviously couldn't help him solve the immediate situation.

Watching the Dorwinions about to be annihilated on the battlefield below, Kael still intervened.

"Begone, all evil!" Kael held his staff transformed by Transfiguration and released brilliant holy light.
