Chapter 211: Chapter 0211: A Critical Moment_1
In the dense forest, numerous members of the Special Action Team had gathered. Even Zhao Dawei was there, and Master Tianlong had flown over on his sword.
"Did you find anything?" Master Tianlong asked expectantly.
"We found his scent," Tan Yonghao, the leader of the Special Abilities Group, said excitedly.
His Special Abilities Group boasted many remarkable individuals, each with their own unique powers, making them the most efficient team and one of the core strengths of the Special Action Team.
Among them was a young man named Ye Feng. He was only twenty years old but possessed an incredible ability. His nose could detect scents so faint they were nearly negligible, hundreds of times more sensitive than a dog’s. He also had a great talent for cultivation and had already opened fifteen meridians.
He had been on the rooftop of the Qingshan International Hotel earlier as one of the individuals with special abilities, so he had naturally picked up the scent emanating from Zhang Bin. Now, in the dense forest, he had caught Zhang Bin’s scent once again.
"Fantastic! Let’s give chase at once," Master Tianlong said, his face alight with wild elation.
He was now one hundred percent certain that Chen Junheng was not an old master at the Nascent Soul Stage, but a supernatural expert who could fly for a short distance but couldn’t sustain it for long. Hence, he had been forced to land in the dense forest and then quickly flee. Now, by following his scent, they could surely track him down.
If such a miraculous person, who was also a terrifyingly skilled hacker, could be recruited by the nation into the Special Action Team, the team’s strength would increase immensely.
Ye Feng was already giving chase, running at the very front. His nose twitched constantly as he followed the trail, his pace quickening steadily.
Zhang Bin had indeed landed here before and had stealthily made his way back to the villa on Mantou Ridge from this spot. Of course, he had tried his best to seal his pores to prevent any scent from leaking out. But he never would have dreamed that the Special Abilities Group had someone as remarkable as Ye Feng.
The many members of the Special Action Team, including Master Tianlong, followed closely behind Ye Feng, their faces filled with eager expectation. It seemed they could already envision the wonderful scene of them catching up to and capturing Chen Junheng.
Confidence was written all over Ye Feng’s face. The weather was good today, with no rain. As long as his target hadn’t flown away through the air, he could continue the pursuit indefinitely.
Panic flickered across Zhang Bin’s face; his identity was now in danger of being exposed. Just now, he had Tutu control their phones and had indeed managed to monitor some crucial information. These Special Action Team members all had phones, but nearly all of them were turned off. As for the members of the Special Abilities Group, they hadn’t even brought their phones. So, Zhang Bin had Tutu control Zhao Dawei’s phone, forcing it to turn on automatically. That’s when he heard the bad news.
What should I do? Zhang Bin paced back and forth frantically.
The situation was dire. The pursuers would inevitably follow his scent all the way to his villa. Even if he left the villa now, it would be useless. His scent was all over the place, which meant his identity would undoubtedly be exposed.
Exposing his secret as the hacker Chen Junheng wasn’t a huge deal. However, revealing the fact that he, Liu Ruomei’s brother-in-law, had transformed into another man to court her, was something the Special Action Team would definitely misunderstand. How could they possibly comprehend his noble intentions? If Liu Ruolan and Liu Ruomei found out, they would certainly be mistaken as well, and the consequences would be severe.
What to do? What on earth should I do?
Cold sweat beaded on Zhang Bin’s forehead as he once again felt that his sister-in-law, Liu Ruomei, must have been sent by the heavens to torment him. Why did anything involving her always have to go so wrong?
"Huh... It seems he’s about to leave Great Green Mountain. He’s escaped back to the human world," Zhao Dawei, who was trailing behind the group, suddenly exclaimed in surprise.
Zhang Bin heard this too and grew even more frantic, practically steaming with anxiety. In about half an hour, they would reach his villa.
Perhaps it was a stroke of genius born from desperation, but an idea suddenly flashed through his mind, and a devilish smile spread across his face. He called Xiao Qian over, handed her a piece of clothing he had worn earlier, and whispered something in her ear.
Xiao Qian nodded with a mischievous grin, snatched the clothing in her mouth, and dashed off like a wisp of smoke.
Soon, Xiao Qian reached the other side of the small stream. Carrying Zhang Bin’s clothes, she proceeded at a steady pace, heading deeper and deeper into Great Green Mountain.
Ye Feng quickly led the team to the edge of that same stream. The scent trail had gone cold there. However, with the Little Fox now passing by carrying Zhang Bin’s clothing, the scent continued uninterrupted. Thus, he quickly pursued in the direction the Little Fox had gone.
If it weren’t for the stream, Zhang Bin would have had no way to divert their attention. If it weren’t for the Little Fox, a Fairy intimately familiar with Great Green Mountain, he would have had no way to escape this predicament.
"Mwahaha... You can all take your time chasing. I’m going to take a nap," Zhang Bin cackled, no longer worried. As long as the Little Fox kept them wandering in the dense forest overnight, the scent he’d left behind would completely dissipate.
Not even Ye Feng’s keen nose would be able to pick it up by then.
Still, the youth Ye Feng had left a deep impression on Zhang Bin.
I must never come face-to-face with him in the future. Who knows if he’ll remember this scent forever? If he ever sees me, the real Zhang Bin, will he recognize it?
"Damn, what an unexpected nemesis. Ye Feng, oh Ye Feng, I’ll remember you," Zhang Bin muttered to himself.
The Little Fox’s speed gradually increased, as she was wary of being detected by Master Tianlong’s Divine Sense. About an hour later, she reached a very dangerous area deep within Great Green Mountain.
Finally, she dove into a cave from which a black mist was emanating, and she did not exit from that same entrance. Instead, she emerged from another opening, but the clothing she had been carrying in her mouth was gone.
A strange smile appeared on her face. With a SWOOSH, she leaped into a tree and began jumping rapidly from canopy to canopy, vanishing without a trace in a blink of an eye. Obviously, she was afraid of being tracked by her own scent, which is why she had chosen this route back. After all, the air circulated quickly among the treetops, allowing scents to dissipate easily.
Furthermore, no matter how powerful Ye Feng was, he couldn’t possibly leap through the treetops like the Little Fox. For him, tracking her now was as difficult as scaling the heavens.
Finally, Ye Feng led the numerous members of the Special Action Team to the cave emitting black mist. He announced excitedly, "Chen Junheng is hiding in this cave! He can’t escape!"
