Chapter 219: Chapter 0219 Hearing About Hero Auction for the First Time_1
"You will regret this!"
With a frigid expression, Hanbing Yun tossed out the threat, huffed her way out of the villa, and coldly commanded, "Let’s go. We’re heading back to the Capital City."
"What happened? She’s not even staying for dinner? Did Zhang Bin offend Doctor Han?"
Puzzlement was written all over the faces of Zhao Dawei, Luo Chengliang, and the others.
Zhang Bin quickly followed them out, shouting, "Remember to send the ginseng to me as soon as possible!"
"Hmph... Once I’ve verified that your suggestion is useful, you’ll naturally receive your ginseng," Hanbing Yun replied without looking back as she boarded the helicopter.
"You’d better keep your word. Otherwise, the consequences will be severe."
After he spoke, Zhang Bin grabbed Zhao Dawei, who was also about to board the helicopter. "Bro, you lost the bet this time, didn’t you?"
"Yes, I lost," Zhao Dawei said, somewhat dejected.
"Then hurry up and take me to that fun place," Zhang Bin urged.
"The place I’m taking you isn’t a nightclub, but the Hero Auction... and it’s not time yet," Zhao Dawei said.
As it turned out, the Hero Auction was a global event. It was held once a year, and the location was always different. If it was in Japan this year, the next might be in Swan Country or some other nation. Its participants included cultivators, superpower users, genetically enhanced humans, and world-famous billionaires from across the globe. They could be considered the current heroes and titans of Earth, hence the name Hero Auction.
As for the items auctioned, they were mostly Spiritual Medicine, cultivation techniques, and martial arts. Sometimes there were even Magical Treasures, maps of ancient ruins, treasure maps, elixirs that could enhance one’s cultivation level, and miracle drugs that could extend one’s lifespan. In short, they were all incredibly valuable treasures. Most of these items were put up for auction by sects with ancient heritages.
So, as long as you had the money, you could acquire any treasure you needed, and you could also gain access to breathtaking beauties. The Hero Auction was teeming with beautiful women from around the globe; it was a paradise for men.
However, power alone wasn’t enough to participate. One also had to be a super-rich tycoon. To even qualify for entry, a participant needed to prove they had assets of at least one billion US dollars. Otherwise, you couldn’t even get through the door.
This year’s Hero Auction was to be held in three months. The location was Tokyo, in the Island Nation.
Zhang Bin was both elated and distressed.
He was elated because an event like the Hero Auction existed, a place where he could acquire the Spiritual Medicine and ingredients needed to refine the Liquefaction Pill. The recipe for the Liquefaction Pill came from Daoist Sanqing’s Jade Scroll Simple. It was meant for cultivators who had reached the peak of the Qi Sea Realm Great Perfection. Consuming it would allow them to rapidly break through to the Liquid State. Otherwise, it would take countless years of arduous cultivation to even have a chance of breaking through.
The ingredients for the Liquefaction Pill could all be found on Earth, but Zhang Bin obviously didn’t have such a diverse range of them. He certainly couldn’t afford to spend years in grueling cultivation to make the breakthrough. He had been trying to cultivate the medicinal plants for the pill recipe himself. Unfortunately, he couldn’t even find seeds for some of them. Furthermore, the plants he did manage to grow weren’t old enough; the main ingredient needed to be over a thousand years old, which couldn’t be achieved in a short time.
Now, there was a chance to obtain them.
His distress stemmed from the fact that although he had developed two miraculous drugs—Bright Eye Liquid and the Rufei Slimming Pill—and was earning a fortune daily, he was still a far cry from one billion US dollars. He hadn’t even reached one hundred million. Bidding for the Spiritual Medicine he wanted at an auction filled with tycoons would be incredibly difficult.
However, no matter what, he had to participate and see it for himself. He would try his best to bid on some medicinal ingredients, or at the very least, lay a foundation for attending next year.
After sending off the frosty beauty Hanbing Yun, Zhang Bin drove to Wenwu Pharma and entered Liu Ruolan’s office.
Liu Ruolan was sitting at her desk, looking over some documents. When she saw Zhang Bin arrive, she lifted her head and gave him a charming smile. Her smile was as beautiful as a hundred flowers bursting into bloom.
Zhang Bin walked over and sat on her desk, leering at her as she worked. He then loudly clamored for Wen Shanshan to bring him some coffee.
Blushing, Wen Shanshan delivered the coffee and said coquettishly, "Boss, should I get you a stool?"
"No need. It’s closer here, and I can see better," Zhang Bin dismissed with a casual wave of his hand.
PFFT...
Wen Shanshan giggled and withdrew, gently closing the door behind her.
A faint blush colored Liu Ruolan’s cheeks. "You just came here to cause trouble today, didn’t you?" she said teasingly.
As if he hadn’t heard her, Zhang Bin smirked and asked, "Honey, have your relatives left?"
"They just left," Liu Ruolan said shyly.
"Heh heh... Then you should get off work early," Zhang Bin said, growing excited.
"Then don’t cause trouble here. If I can’t finish today’s work, how can I leave early?" Liu Ruolan retorted playfully.
"I have something important to discuss with you." Zhang Bin took a sip of coffee. "Calculate for me, how much capital can our company come up with in three months?"
Although he had founded the pharmaceutical factory that continuously produced the Rufei Slimming Pill, sales were still handled through Wenwu Pharma. Therefore, the majority of the funds were with Wenwu Pharma.
"What are you planning to do?" Liu Ruolan asked in surprise.
"I’m going to participate in an important auction... to bid for some Spiritual Medicine and enhance my cultivation," Zhang Bin said seriously. "Before, my purpose for founding a company and making money was a bit vague. But after everything I’ve been through, it’s crystal clear now. I need to use the money I earn to buy Spiritual Medicine and cultivation resources to improve my cultivation level, to make myself stronger than ever before, so I can protect my family and my wealth.
"Of course," he added, "if in the process of achieving my goals, I can boost the country’s... uh... ’chicken skin’ and contribute to society, all the better."
"It’s GDP! What ’chicken skin’?" Liu Ruolan nearly fainted.
"That’s right, that’s right! Chicken skin!" Zhang Bin insisted. "It’s full of grease. High chicken skin means lots of grease, which means the country’s economy is doing well."
Liu Ruolan didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. She touched her forehead and said, "Alright, alright. ’Chicken skin’ it is. Whatever you say. Let me check the financial reports first. In any case, I agree we should spend money on acquiring Spiritual Medicine."
