Chapter 150: Chapter 28 The Eccentric Yang Xintian
Hey, if you’re going to insult someone, you little brat, just insult them. Why did you have to start dishing out area-of-effect damage to everyone?
Her little face aching from the pinch, Yang Xintian pleaded for mercy, "Ouch, Uncle Sun, I was just saying that because I was angry! I wasn’t talking about you."
"I’ll let you off this once, but don’t you dare say such nonsense in front of me again." Sun Dasheng let her go for now.
"Uncle Sun, you’ve got quite a grip," Yang Xintian said, rubbing her poor little face.
"Of course. Your uncle here has trained before."
"Wow! Uncle Sun, can you help me deal with that scumbag later?" Yang Xintian’s eyes were filled with admiration.
"I think you’re the one who needs to be dealt with." Sun Dasheng felt the urge to pinch the little girl again. "This is a society governed by law, so don’t always resort to your fists like some street punk. After I deal with him, do you want your Uncle Sun to go to jail?"
Faced with Sun Dasheng’s stern look, Yang Xintian gave an embarrassed smile.
"That’s just how it is on TV," she said, even throwing a few punches as she spoke. "The great hero completes his training, emerges from seclusion, and roams the world, fighting for justice and helping the weak."
Poisoned by TV dramas and lacking life experience. Assessment: complete.
"Little girl, watch less TV and listen more to the life experience your parents share."
That was as much as he could say. She wasn’t his daughter, after all.
"But Uncle Sun, that bad guy is targeting Sister Manman again! Can you please go help her?" she asked, bringing up the owner of the bar once more.
Sun Dasheng found it strange how much this girl cared about her.
"Is she a relative of yours?" he asked.
Yang Xintian shook her head.
"A good friend of your parents?" he tried again.
Yang Xintian still shook her head, then stopped him from asking any more questions.
"Uncle Sun, I’ll just tell you the truth. Back when I was in school, I was rebellious and willful. Every time I ran away from home and had nowhere to go, it was Sister Manman who took me in. Without her, I don’t know how I would have gotten through that time. So now that she’s in trouble, I want to help her."
So that was it. Everything happens for a reason. Just as there is no hate without cause, there is no love without cause either.
"Your family is wealthy. If you want to help her, just help her yourself," Sun Dasheng said.
Yang Xintian put on a pitiful expression. "My family having money doesn’t mean *I* have money. I’m still just a girl, and my parents only give me a small allowance each month. Ever since I stopped listening to them, they slashed my allowance. What can I possibly do with less than ten thousand a month?"
Alright, to a student from an ordinary family, that would definitely sound like she was humblebragging. But considering her family’s wealth, that really wasn’t much money.
"Business has been slow for her lately," she continued, staring intently at Sun Dasheng. "The rent is due soon, and she doesn’t know where she’s going to get the money."
Unfortunately, he remained completely unmoved by her words.
It was the same old story. The world was full of pitiful women. He was in no mood to help a complete stranger.
"Uncle Sun, the hearts of you rich people are so hard," Yang Xintian complained.
"What kind of thing is that to say? Are you including your parents in that?"
"My parents are the same! They’re so harsh. They said they’d cut my allowance, and they did it the very next month."
Well, then. She was the type to criticize her own parents when she got worked up.
Things were quiet for a moment.
Wang Manman, wearing red high heels, walked over with a seductive sway. She was carrying a platter of snacks.
"Tian Tian, here are some complimentary snacks for you."
"Sister Manman, you’re too kind." Yang Xintian hurriedly took the platter, then added, "Sis, your business is already slow. You don’t need to be giving things away for free."
Wang Manman sat down with a smile and arranged the plates for them. "It’s true that business is slow, but do you think I’m going to get rich off a few snacks? This is just my way of thanking you for supporting my business so often."
The perfume of the mature woman beside him was a bit overwhelming, so he stood up. "Where is the restroom?"
Wang Manman called a waiter to personally show him the way. He said his thanks and left.
The moment he was gone, Yang Xintian leaned in and whispered, "Sister Manman, my Uncle Sun is a super-rich tycoon."
"Is that so?" Wang Manman smoothed her hair and gave a light smile.
What did it matter to her if he was a tycoon? This lounge wasn’t the kind of place where big shots could throw money around and single-handedly revive a failing business. It was actually hard to spend a lot of money here. It simply lacked the atmosphere of a nightclub that attracted the wealthy to spend lavishly.
"Sister Manman, don’t take this lightly. I brought him here today specifically to introduce him to you, to help you get through this."
Yang Xintian’s words made Wang Manman’s expression turn slightly awkward. At her age, being set up by a young girl was rather mortifying.
"Tian Tian, I appreciate the thought. I’m grateful you care so much, but let’s just pretend I didn’t hear that. Please don’t ever say it again."
"Sis, why are you so stubborn?" Yang Xintian looked at her obstinate friend, her voice filled with urgency. "Look at the situation you’re in! Are you really going to keep dedicating yourself to your bedridden husband? You’re loyal and faithful, and everyone who knows it praises you for upholding your wifely duties. But who truly understands the hardship you’re going through? Sis, what you need right now is a pillar of support who can help you overcome these difficulties, not to be trapped by those self-imposed moral shackles."
"That’s enough, Tian Tian. Don’t say any more," Wang Manman said, her face grim. "If you continue, we can’t even be friends anymore."
