Chapter 125: Chapter 20 comes one, kiss one!
After the family dinner, the four elders went to visit some friends, leaving the two younger men at home.
"Brother Sheng, you don’t have any other plans, do you?" Sun Dacheng asked.
"If you have something to say, spit it out!" Sun Dasheng shot back, kicking at him.
Sun Dacheng dodged nimbly. "Hehe... Brother Sheng, some buddies from the county and I have arranged to go sing karaoke."
"Then go. It’s not like we’re at the company. Do you need to report it to me?"
"Well... those buddies of mine all want to meet you, the big boss," Sun Dacheng said sheepishly.
"How did they find out?" Sun Dasheng asked. "Did you go bragging after a few drinks?"
"How did you know?" Sun Dacheng flinched.
Did he even need to ask? That big mouth of his could talk a big enough game to shake the heavens even when he was sober. If he’d actually been drinking, he’d probably brag until the cows came home and then some.
"What exactly did you say about me?" Sun Dasheng asked.
"I didn’t brag that much. I just said you’re the CEO of a listed company, worth hundreds of millions, and a diamond bachelor." Seeing his cousin’s increasingly terrifying gaze, he quickly took a few steps back. "Brother Sheng, what I said isn’t that far from the truth, is it?"
Alright, while there was still some exaggeration in there, the reality wasn’t too far off from what he’d said.
「At the county KTV.」
Judging by the decor, the place was quite old. It probably didn’t get much business on a regular day and was just trying to cash in during the New Year holiday. The Mercedes-Benz pulled up to the entrance.
Just as they got out of the car, a crowd of people surged forward to greet them. It seemed they were all there for their arrival.
Sun Dasheng gave Sun Dacheng a surprised look. The kid had quite an extensive social circle.
"President Sun, welcome, welcome!"
"We’ve been waiting for you, President Sun!"
"President Sun, we’ve finally got you here."
These greetings of "President Sun" were all directed at Sun Dacheng.
Sun Dacheng coughed awkwardly and raised his voice to be heard over the crowd. "Everyone, the man of the hour tonight is my cousin! He’s the real President Sun. Compared to him, I’m just an employee."
The crowd was sharp and immediately changed their tune.
"Welcome, a grand welcome to the esteemed President Sun!"
"So this is President Sun’s boss? What a handsome and elegant man."
"President Sun, is this your cousin, the CEO of the listed company you were telling us about? I thought you were just bragging, but it turns out he’s real!"
Amid the crowd’s enthusiastic reception, Sun Dasheng was led into the KTV’s largest private room.
Only after taking a seat in the very center did he have a moment to size everyone up. They were all young people in their twenties and thirties, both men and women, and all were dressed quite respectably. It was clear they were all doing pretty well for themselves out in the world.
Birds of a feather flock together, after all. He just wasn’t sure where Sun Dacheng had met all these people.
He soon found his answer.
It turned out to be a group chat for people from their small hometown who were now studying, working, or doing business in Shanghai City. Having found each other in a massive city like Shanghai, they considered their connection a matter of fate. They decided to take advantage of being back home for the New Year to get together, something that was difficult to do while struggling to make it in the big city.
Of course, the main catalyst for this gathering was Sun Dacheng’s boasting in the group chat. Everyone wanted to meet this legendary "CEO of a listed company" and "diamond bachelor." It was no wonder there were significantly more women than men here today, and each one was dressed to the nines.
"Bosses, here’s the drink menu. What can I get for you to drink or eat?" The KTV manager had come to serve them personally.
The room replied in unison, "Let President Sun decide!"
The manager looked toward the man in the center with surprise. So *this* was tonight’s big boss. He smoothly changed course and scurried over. "President Sun, what would you like to drink?"
Sun Dasheng found it hard to refuse their enthusiasm. "Just bring us one of everything you’ve got that’s top-shelf." Sticking to the principle that whoever orders pays, he added, "I’ll cover these drinks. Feel free to order anything else you want for yourselves."
The KTV was noisy, and it was hard to hear. But that didn’t matter; he had a human megaphone right beside him.
Sun Dacheng, standing to one side, picked up the microphone and repeated his cousin’s words for everyone to hear. "Tonight’s drinks and smokes are on my big brother! Go all out, everyone! He’s covering everything, so let loose and have a good time."
"President Sun is so generous!"
"What else would you expect from a big boss? Now that’s class!"
"Wow! I’m in for a treat tonight. They even have that 8,888-yuan foreign liquor here."
"So Maotai and Zhonghua cigarettes are covered too? President Sun is seriously rich."
Feeling the atmosphere still wasn’t lively enough, Sun Dacheng grabbed the microphone again and shouted, "Let’s all shout it together: President Sun is V587!"
With a leader to follow, the crowd chanted in unison, "President Sun is V587!"
The spectacle made Sun Dasheng so embarrassed he could have curled his toes into the floor.
That Sun Dacheng really knew how to work a crowd. Still, he had to admit, hearing it was pretty damn exhilarating!
Those few shouts were enough to break the ice, and in no time, the private room was buzzing with activity. People were singing karaoke, dancing, or playing drinking games. Most, however, were lining up to toast President Sun.
"President Sun, here’s a toast to you."
These people were overly enthusiastic, their bodies practically pressing against his. After offering a toast, they would sneakily slip little notes into his pocket. If it weren’t for the large crowd and the queue of people waiting behind them, they probably would have asked to add him on WeChat on the spot.
"Brother Sheng, we’re surrounded by beauties, the absolute cream of the crop from our county. You telling me not a single one has caught your eye?" Sun Dacheng whispered, sidling up next to him. As he asked, his eyes kept darting in a specific direction.
"Get out of here. Have you set your sights on someone?" Sun Dasheng retorted, giving him a swat.
Sun Dacheng just chuckled without saying a word, but his eyes gave away his true intentions.
