Chapter 99: Chapter 5 My Old Classmate Turns Out to Be a Billionaire_2

"What evidence do you need? If what I’m saying isn’t true, what are you so afraid of? Look at you! Isn’t that proof enough that I’m right? When you throw a stone into a pack of dogs, the one that barks the loudest is the one that got hit. If I’m wrong, then why are you yapping like a dog?"

"You..." The owner was so angry he was rendered speechless.

Seeing her opponent silenced by her retort, Wang Meimei smiled smugly. It seems the theories I learned online can be applied just as easily offline.

Her smile vanished the next moment. She watched as the owner turned around, grabbed a sharp butchering knife from the cutting board, and started walking toward her to have a proper "discussion."

She was stunned. She had completely forgotten the difference between online and offline. Online, if someone can’t out-argue you, the worst they can do is block you. Offline, if you truly infuriate an honest person, you might be the one who gets "deleted" from reality.

"Help! Someone’s trying to kill me!"

Like a rat in a gutter, Wang Meimei scrambled to hide behind the crowd.

"Boss, calm down! Don’t stoop to her level," Qian Zhi said, trying to mediate.

Sun Dasheng, however, yanked him back. "Don’t move. He has a knife."

The other man was armed while they were not; trying to break up the fight would be incredibly foolish. Besides, the woman had brought this on herself with her own stupidity. Getting dragged into her mess would be just as foolish.

"What should we do then?" Qian Zhi asked, panicking. No matter how many faults the woman had, his wife had brought her here. If something happened, would his wife be implicated? That was the true source of his panic.

"Don’t worry. Someone already called the police. And look, even though the owner is furious, there’s no murderous intent in his eyes. He’s probably just in a fit of rage and already regrets his impulsive actions. As long as no one provokes him further, it should be fine."

With that, he guided Qian Zhi and his wife, quietly shifting their position to expose the woman cowering behind them. She had started this whole mess; whether she lived or died was none of his business. All that mattered was keeping themselves safe.

Sun Dasheng wasn’t wrong. The knife-wielding owner was indeed filled with regret. Seeing the frightened diners, he knew these were his regular customers. After a scare like this, they would likely never return. Aren’t I just ruining my own business? Was it really necessary to make such a big deal over this Little Fairy from the internet?

He was looking for a way to back down. Unfortunately, his wife wasn’t there; she would have surely stopped him.

Since there’s no way out, I’ll have to make one myself.

"Apologize to me right now!"

If she took the hint and apologized, he would drop the matter. But he had overestimated the nature of a Little Fairy—stubborn to the very end.

"I did nothing wrong. Why should I apologize?" Though terrified, the only part of Wang Meimei that remained firm was her mouth. "You dare say everything in your shop is fresh? That not a single item is frozen?"

Seeing his silence, she assumed she had him cornered. She slowly stood up, dusting off her clothes with a look of disgust. "What a trashy shop. The floor hasn’t even been swept properly. I bet the food you grill is just as dirty."

"Stop talking, please!" Yang Meina whispered anxiously from the side, unable to understand why she was still going on.

Seeing her friend’s cautious demeanor, Wang Meimei smiled with satisfaction, finally finding an area where she was superior. "What’s there to be afraid of? I haven’t done anything wrong. This is a society governed by law. Does he really dare to cut me?"

She then turned and taunted the motionless, knife-wielding owner, "Come on, stab me right here! Come on! Come on!"

When he still didn’t move, she laughed. "Useless, even when I give you the chance. You’re nothing but a gutless coward putting on a brave face, just like all the men I argue with online. Spineless!"

Those final words struck the owner’s ears, and his eyes instantly turned bloodshot.

"AHHH!" he roared. He lifted the sharp knife and lunged.

It happened so fast. After a dozen stabs, the woman collapsed, her face frozen in disbelief. The scene erupted into pandemonium. The onlookers, who had been watching the drama, turned to flee now that it had turned into a real stabbing.

"Don’t move!" he roared again, standing up. "You all saw it! This woman provoked me again and again! That’s why I did it!"

The crowd numbly nodded. When a man is holding a weapon, whatever he says is right.

Seeing their terrified expressions, he tossed the knife aside. He took out his phone, dialed the police to report his crime, and turned himself in. Then he held up his phone for everyone to see. "I’ve already called the police to surrender. There’s no need to be afraid. I’m not some homicidal maniac."

Only then did the crowd truly relax.

Yang Meina was about to rush over to check on her friend, but Sun Dasheng stopped her. "Call 120 for an ambulance first. Don’t move her. We aren’t medical professionals."

She mechanically pulled out her phone and dialed the emergency number, her mind a complete blank. It had all happened too suddenly; she was utterly unprepared.

Sun Dasheng, however, glanced at the shop owner in surprise. This guy is actually a hidden expert, he thought. He had seen the man’s actions clearly. Every slash had deliberately avoided vital organs. Despite the number of stab wounds, none of them were deep. At most, a hospital would classify them as minor injuries. If he’s sentenced, it’ll probably be for less than three years. Considering he turned himself in, he might be out in a year or so. A Little Fairy like Wang Meimei has finally met her match.

Seeing the woman lying on the ground, her fate uncertain, the onlookers began to mutter among themselves.

[That girl’s tongue is too vicious. Something like this was bound to happen sooner or later.]

[What are you saying? That’s just blaming the victim.]

[Victim? Heh, she brought it on herself!]

[She doesn’t know when to advance or retreat in the real world. Does she think reality is the same as the internet, where she can say whatever she wants? She didn’t learn her lesson online, so someone in the real world had to teach her how to be a decent person.]

Opinions were divided, with some supporting her and others condemning her. But on one thing, everyone agreed: don’t be like her.

Given the busy location, the ambulance and police cars arrived quickly. The owner was handcuffed and led away, while Wang Meimei was carried out on a stretcher. The bystanders were taken to the station to give their statements. The facts were clear, and the shop’s surveillance cameras had recorded everything, so the investigation concluded swiftly.

By the time Sun Dasheng and Qian Zhi left the police station, dusk was just settling in.

"My wife is still at the hospital. I need to go see her," Qian Zhi said, feeling deeply embarrassed about the day’s events. "Today was supposed to be a happy occasion, celebrating our reunion after more than ten years. I never expected things to turn out like this. I’m really sorry."

"Don’t say you’re sorry," Sun Dasheng cut in. "Life is unpredictable. None of us can see the future, so who knows what will happen next? What happened today might seem like a bad thing, but who’s to say it won’t turn into a blessing in disguise? Right? Who knows."

His old classmate’s cryptic words left Qian Zhi feeling puzzled.

What Qian Zhi didn’t know was that Sun Dasheng had clearly overheard the hushed conversation between Wang Meimei and Yang Meina at the restaurant entrance. Sun Dasheng now knew exactly what kind of person his old classmate’s wife’s so-called best friend really was. She was trying to encourage her friend to be unfaithful. That was why he had been watching coldly from the sidelines earlier. There was a reason for everything. He wasn’t some naturally cold-blooded animal.

"Let me give you a ride. It’s hard to get a taxi at this hour."

Since he had been drinking, Sun Dasheng hadn’t driven. Instead, he had his driver bring the car around.

When Qian Zhi saw the emblem on the hood, his eyes lit up. He reached out and touched the bold, winged ’B’. "This ’B’ sure is beautiful," he exclaimed.

Sun Dasheng smiled. "This ’B’ is alright, I guess."

"Old classmate, I knew you were doing well, but I never imagined you were doing *this* well," Qian Zhi said with a look of pure admiration as he settled into the back seat.

"You can tell I’m doing well just from this car?" Sun Dasheng teased. "Maybe I rented it."

Qian Zhi lovingly stroked the genuine leather of the seat. "I’ve seen plenty of guys rent cars to pick up girls, but who rents one that comes with a private driver? Only a big boss could afford a dedicated driver like this." Qian Zhi had a look that said, *I get it.* "My previous company wasn’t small—a foreign trade firm with over a hundred employees—but the only ones with private drivers were the top few bosses, each worth hundreds of millions. Old classmate, tell me quietly... are you a multi-millionaire now?"
