Chapter 90: Chapter 90 Dog Eat Dog, A Mouthful of Fur (Two-in-One Chapter)
Hah!
What arrogance!
"Who do you think you are? Posturing like some big shot?"
"Why should we listen to you? That’s hilarious."
Xiang Yiren shot him a cold look. She had no time for his arrogant words and, helping her friend up, prepared to leave.
The credit manager gave his subordinate, Chen Chao, a look.
Chen immediately blocked the two women’s path.
"Ma’am, who are you?"
"We were having a nice meal here when you, a stranger, barge in wanting to take someone away? You’re the one who’s hilarious."
"Who am I? I’m her best friend. She’s the one who called me to pick her up," Xiang Yiren said, her expression frosty.
She looked at the man before her with utter disdain.
It was the first time she had ever seen her best friend’s ’fiancé’. Well, that wasn’t the most outrageous part. What was truly unbelievable was that she hadn’t even known her friend had a so-called ’fiancé’ until she received the desperate call for help. Her friend was always so tight-lipped. They had worked together at the gym for over a year, and she had never mentioned him, not even once. She probably never took this ’fiancé’ from an arranged marriage seriously, anyway.
"Heh, you say you’re her best friend? Who can prove it?"
"We don’t know you at all. Are we just supposed to take your word for it?"
"As her fiancé, I won’t allow a stranger to take her away," Chen Chao declared with an air of righteousness, blocking their path.
"You..." Xiang Yiren felt a rage welling up in her chest. She hadn’t expected her best friend’s fiancé to be so utterly shameless.
"Zi Yan, wake up." Left with no other choice, she gently patted her friend’s face.
Unfortunately, the drug had taken full effect, leaving her friend unconscious and completely unrousable. This was serious trouble.
"Get out of my way now, or I’m calling the police," Xiang Yiren threatened.
"Heh, call the police?" the bald credit manager chuckled. "Young lady, you shouldn’t threaten to call the police over every little thing. Besides, when they arrive, who do you think they’ll arrest, us or you? Young lady, you should think things through before you act. Don’t do something rash in the heat of the moment that you’ll regret for the rest of your life."
"Ugh! Who are you calling ’young lady,’ you old fossil?"
Her insult, ’old fossil’, struck a nerve on the manager’s bald head.
He bellowed for a waiter and pointed at Xiang Yiren, "We’re trying to eat here! How can you just let some random person barge into a private room? What kind of hotel are you running?"
The waiter entered, his scalp tingling with anxiety. Neither group was to be trifled with, and for a moment, he was at a complete loss. When gods fight, it’s us mortals who suffer,
he complained internally."What are you standing there for? Get her out of here!"
"Do it, or I’ll see to it you’re packing your bags and out on the street!" the credit manager barked, sticking out his large belly menacingly.
"And who’s this? The hotel manager? You’ve got a lot of nerve."
A voice sounded from outside the private room.
The waiter’s face lit up at the sight of the newcomer. He rushed over with a welcoming smile, "Mr. Sun, good to see you!"
"Who is this now? Can any Tom, Dick, or Harry just walk into my private room?" the credit manager fumed. What is with today? I was just trying to have a nice meal and some fun with a girl. Why is everything going so wrong?
"Manager Xiao, this is Mr. Sun, a valued guest of our hotel," the waiter explained.
So, the credit manager’s surname was Xiao.
"Valued guest?" Manager Xiao scoffed. "Go ask your hotel manager who the *real* valued guest is."
"Mr. Sun is the valued guest our manager personally instructed me to assist," the waiter responded. "Of course, you are also our valued guest, Manager Xiao. There must be some kind of misunderstanding today."
"Misunderstanding?" Manager Xiao sneered, waving his hand dismissively. "There’s nothing to misunderstand. Get these annoying people the hell out of here."
Before the waiter could say more, Sun Dasheng stopped him.
His expression turned icy as he fixed his gaze on the Mediterrean before him. "I’m just here to find someone. I’ll leave as soon as I do. I won’t disturb your meal."
"Find someone? There’s no one here for you," Manager Xiao stated, refusing him outright.
"Brother Sun! I’m here!" Xiang Yiren’s joyful voice called out from inside the room. "Hurry, come in! They’re blocking me from leaving."
The truth was plain to see. Sun Dasheng signaled for the man in his path to move.
However, the man, completely clueless about the situation, stood his ground. "This is my room. No one gets in without my permission."
He couldn’t even finish his threat before he was lifted and tossed aside.
AAAH!
A scream like a slaughtered pig echoed from the doorway.
Chen Chao glanced cautiously at the man on the floor, then at his own scrawny frame, and wisely stepped aside to let the newcomer pass.
To him, the man’s imposing figure seemed to radiate a murderous aura. A single glance as he walked by was enough to send a cold sweat down Chen’s back.
"Yi Ren, are you okay?" Sun Dasheng asked as he came over and gave her a hug.
Xiang Yiren thought he was asking about her friend in her arms. She looked down and said, "We’re okay. I got here just in time."
"It’s just that Zi Yan seems to have been drugged. She’s passed out."
"If I’d been any later, I can’t imagine what would have happened," she added, her voice laced with fear.
"I didn’t know anything about Zi Yan’s fiancé before this," she explained.
"I trust you," Sun Dasheng said, placing a hand gently over her mouth. He glanced around. "We can talk about this later. Let’s get out of here first."
So, with Sun Dasheng supporting Xiang Yiren, who in turn supported the unconscious Jiang Ziyan, they made their way to the entrance.
Their path, however, was blocked.
"You’re not leaving."
