Chapter 87: Chapter 87: Change of Heart? Lee Li
"If you can’t handle it, I’ll just use fifty percent of my power from now on. Then you won’t have to do things like this for me."
Sun Dasheng gave her another tap on the head. This time, however, he didn’t use much force.
Xiang Yiren immediately understood his meaning. He wasn’t truly angry at her for scouting women for him, but he felt she shouldn’t have used such a blunt and crude approach. If she made it so obvious and things didn’t work out, it would be awkward for everyone.
"Brother Sun, I get it. Next time, I’ll subtly probe her thoughts in private. I definitely won’t put you in a difficult position," she said.
Sun Dasheng was completely baffled. What does she get now? Is that what I meant? Truthfully, it’s not like he was lacking for female companionship. He just wanted to maintain good relationships with the women he knew and raise their bond values. And after that, make some serious money. With money in hand, you don’t have to worry, right? Who would ever complain about having too much money?
"Are you done eating? If so, let’s go," Sun Dasheng said, patting the woman beside him. He snapped his fingers, about to call the waiter over to pay the bill.
Xiang Yiren stopped him. "We agreed, it’s my treat today."
He couldn’t refuse the beautiful woman’s kind gesture, so he said with a smile, "Alright! You’re paying for this one!"
Xiang Yiren took out her phone and scanned the QR code the waiter brought over.
"Well, well, isn’t it Sun Dasheng? Have you fallen so low you need a woman to pay for your dinner? Looks like you haven’t changed one bit!" an unfriendly voice called out from nearby.
The comment caused the other diners to turn and look. It wasn’t unheard of for a woman to pay for a meal, but that was usually a dynamic between a young boy toy and a rich older woman. A young, beautiful woman voluntarily paying for a meal with an older man was a rare sight—or rather, something they had never witnessed before. Of course, their curiosity was fleeting; after a quick glance, they all returned to their own food.
When Sun Dasheng saw who was trying to pick a fight, his expression darkened. It was that meddlesome ex-wife of his again. Why is she everywhere? To run into her even while eating hot pot? Or was this intentional...
Before he could dwell on it, Xiang Yiren, having just paid, immediately retaliated. "Who are you? I’m happy to pay for my meal with Brother Sun. What business is it of yours?"
After speaking, she looped her arm intimately through Sun Dasheng’s and whispered comfortingly, "Ignore that crazy woman. Let’s go."
Her voice wasn’t loud, but it was just loud enough for Lee Li to hear.
She instantly exploded. "Who are you calling a crazy woman?"
"Whoever is throwing a fit is the crazy woman, obviously," Xiang Yiren replied with a shrug.
Sun Dasheng had to admit, her combativeness was impressive. He smiled and patted her head, then turned to Lee Li. "She’s still young and sometimes speaks without thinking. As the adult here, you should be a little more tolerant, hmm?"
Calling her ’young’ was just an indirect way of calling Lee Li old, wasn’t it?
Lee Li’s face flushed crimson, though it was unclear if it was from the steam filling the hot pot restaurant or from his words.
"Sun Dasheng, just look at the kind of woman you’ve found!" she sneered. "Uneducated and classless! All you know is how to dress up like some cheap, flashy floozy to seduce other women’s husbands!"
These words thoroughly enraged Sun Dasheng. "What kind of woman I’m with is none of your damn business. We are divorced. Her being with me is not ’seducing someone’s husband.’ You’d better apologize for that remark."
At this, the crowd of onlookers completely scattered. So, they were divorced. Everyone had assumed it was a classic ’wife catching the mistress’ scene.
"Sun Dasheng, I didn’t come here to fight with you," Lee Li said, expertly changing the subject. Her tone suddenly softened, and her face took on an air of sincerity. "Da Sheng, in the days since our divorce, I’ve done a lot of reflecting on my past behavior. I’ve realized that you were always a good husband.
"It was my fault, I was the one who was too difficult, who ruined our relationship. But we can start over. I’ve truly recognized my mistakes now.
"Da Sheng, please give me another chance. Give our ten-year marriage another chance, won’t you?"
She reached for Sun Dasheng’s hand, her face a picture of excitement, but he sidestepped her touch.
He looked at her, his expression cold. He knew exactly what kind of person this woman was. He’d seen her true colors when he was at his lowest. Now that he had money, she regretted her decision? She wanted to worm her way back into his life? Sorry, but that’s impossible!
"Da Sheng, do you really have no feelings left for me at all?" Lee Li cried, her inner drama queen taking over as she put on a pained expression, as if their relationship truly meant the world to her.
"Ma’am, as your junior, let me offer you a piece of advice: if you don’t cherish a good man, someone else will definitely come along to cherish him for you."
Xiang Yiren’s words pierced Lee Li’s heart like a needle. Of course, it wasn’t because the husband she had spent ten years with was being taken away. No, it was the realization that the cash cow—her suddenly wealthy ex-husband—was slipping further and further from her grasp, and there was nothing she could do to get him back.
"Sun Dasheng, do you have to be so ruthless?" Lee Li asked, her eyes red.
"Am I the one being ruthless? Or are you talking about yourself?" Sun Dasheng shot back.
"You hid and transferred marital assets! Did you think I wouldn’t find out?" Lee Li played her ace. "If you refuse to see reason, you can just wait for my lawsuit. I will get back every penny that belongs to me!"
She spoke through gritted teeth, as if she truly believed it.
Sun Dasheng laughed. "Then go ahead and sue. I’ll be waiting."
He laughed because he was completely confident. He had already consulted his company’s legal department. On paper, the money from the system came from his overseas family fund. Furthermore, this fund had never transferred a single cent to him during their marriage. All the funds were transferred based on clauses that were activated only after the divorce was finalized. Therefore, the money Sun Dasheng currently possessed was not marital property and had absolutely nothing to do with her.
"Sun Dasheng, must you really push things to the point of mutual destruction?" Lee Li made one last attempt. She had only managed to track him down today thanks to a private investigator. After the divorce, seeing him had become incredibly difficult, as if they lived in two different worlds.
"Oh? The fish might die, but the net won’t break. Why don’t you give it a try and see?" Sun Dasheng replied, his tone still light and unbothered.
DING! DING! DING!
Lee Li’s phone rang. After she answered it, her face turned deathly pale.
"Sun Dasheng, you beast! You’re actually suing me for slander and defamation? You even sent a court summons to my parents’ house!" she shrieked. "If my mom hadn’t just called, I’d still be in the dark! How could you be so cruel? It’s been so long, and you’re still holding a grudge over something so small? You’re such a petty man!"
Hearing this, Xiang Yiren had had enough. "Since when are slander and defamation ’something so small’? Haven’t you seen how many people’s reputations are ruined by online rumors and slander? Even if the victims win their cases, they’re still condemned by a mob of people who don’t know the truth."
Her words seemed to give Lee Li an idea. Her eyes darted about slyly.
Xiang Yiren understood her expression perfectly and said sternly, "You already have a file with the public security bureau. If you dare to spread rumors online, your accounts will be banned immediately, and you’ll be arrested. If you want to challenge the authority of the law, feel free to try. Besides, Brother Sun is now a well-known entrepreneur in this district and is receiving special attention from the district government."
That last sentence was finally enough to extinguish any ideas Lee Li had.
