Chapter 60: Chapter 60 You’re So Hot

"Boss, what are your instructions for today?" Li Qiang asked immediately after seeing off the group of troublemakers.

"Nothing much, I just came by to have a look. You can go back to your work. Having Manager Xiang here with me is enough," Sun Dasheng said with a wave of his hand.

Li Qiang gave a slight bow, showing respect not only to Sun Dasheng but also extending the same courtesy to Xiang Yiren beside him.

The group left the store to continue their audit at the other directly-operated stores.

He saw Xiang Yiren by his side, wearing the triumphant expression of a fox that had just stolen a chicken.

Sun Dasheng pinched her nose. "So that’s why you specifically called me over. You wanted to put on a show of ’the fox borrowing the tiger’s might,’ didn’t you?"

Having been found out, Xiang Yiren didn’t argue. Instead, she said coquettishly, "When a young woman like me is suddenly promoted from receptionist to head store manager and deputy manager, some people are bound to be resentful. I was just borrowing a bit of Brother Sun’s imposing presence to make my future work go more smoothly. I’m sorry, I promise I won’t dare do it again."

Anyone could tell from the smug smile on her face that she absolutely would dare to do it again next time.

SMACK.

Sun Dasheng’s large hand landed firmly and powerfully on her buttocks.

"Little temptress," he said in a low voice, "do you think a single ’sorry’ can gloss over such a big mistake?"

"Ouch... Then... how can I earn your forgiveness..." Xiang Yiren murmured pleadingly, her cheeks flushing as a sultry, yearning look filled her eyes.

"Hehe... This calls for some family discipline," Sun Dasheng said, the pressure from his hand increasing.

"Ah..." She covered her mouth, stifling the sound.

She glanced around at the bustling crowd.

Forcing back her embarrassment, she said, "There are too many people here. Let’s go upstairs. I have a private office on the second floor where we won’t be disturbed."

Hiss... The office!

He looked down at the professionally dressed beauty. All she was missing was a pair of large, black-rimmed glasses to be the spitting image of a seductive office secretary.

The old saying goes: a secretary is for work... and for when there’s no work... Hiss... This certainly piqued his interest.

"Do you have a pair of those black-framed glasses?"

"You’re terrible!" Xiang Yiren instantly caught on to his perverted idea. "I don’t have any, but I think Little Yan at the front desk does. I’ll go borrow a pair."

With that, she pushed Sun Dasheng away and, swaying her slender hips, walked toward the front desk.

She returned with the glasses a moment later.

Sun Dasheng personally put them on for her.

He looked her up and down and nodded. Now that was more like it.

The two embraced and headed for the second floor.

Little Yan, standing at the front desk, was completely dumbfounded.

She turned to the yoga instructor, Jiang Ziyan, who had appeared at some point to watch the drama unfold. "Sister Zi Yan, I heard you and Manager Xiang are best friends. Is she nearsighted too?"

"Not at all!" Jiang Ziyan said.

"Huh? Then why is she wearing my glasses?"

"Hehe... Who knows?" Jiang Ziyan said, seeing through the ruse but keeping it to herself.

Little Yan, still confused and anxious, explained, "It’s not that I don’t want to lend them, but it’s bad for someone’s eyes if they aren’t nearsighted and wear prescription glasses. Sister Zi Yan, you have to explain that to Manager Xiang."

Not wanting the young girl’s imagination to run wild, Jiang Ziyan quickly reassured her, "She has her reasons for wearing those glasses. Anyway, don’t worry. She won’t wear them for long, so there won’t be any of the eye health problems you’re concerned about."

"Oh..." Little Yan quieted down, muttering to herself, "But do glasses for nearsightedness have any other use besides correcting vision?"

"Well, that’s hard to say," Jiang Ziyan said, suddenly letting out a quiet chuckle.

Seeing this, Little Yan scratched her head in confusion. The world of adults is so hard to understand!

「Two hours later.」

In the manager’s office on the second floor of the fitness center.

KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK...

A knock echoed at the door.

"Manager Xiang, as you requested, I’ve organized all the VIP customer files for the main store."

Standing outside was none other than Jiang Ziyan, who had been watching the drama downstairs earlier.

As they were best friends, Xiang Yiren didn’t hide things from her, so she had a pretty good idea of what had happened in the room. She had waited two hours after the pair went inside before coming to report on her work. She had certainly timed it perfectly.

After she knocked, a somewhat hoarse voice answered from within.

"Is that you, Zi Yan... Go downstairs and wait. Come back in ten minutes."

The voice startled her. Has my best friend been possessed? She sounded fine just a little while ago. How did her voice get so hoarse in just two hours?

"Yi Ren, are you okay?" Jiang Ziyan asked carefully, worried something might have happened.

"I’m fine. I just overdid it with the workout and got a little tired. Come back in a bit," Xiang Yiren’s voice sounded noticeably better after a moment.

"As long as you’re okay. Exercise is good, but don’t play around too much," Jiang Ziyan said pointedly, then left, clutching the folder.

Once the footsteps outside faded away, Sun Dasheng finally burst out laughing.

He looked at Xiang Yiren, who was sprawled on the sofa like a puddle of mud. "Your stamina isn’t quite up to snuff, is it? Weren’t you the one saying the little fox was going to eat the big bad wolf?"

Humiliated, Xiang Yiren flew into a rage and threw a cushion at him. "You bully! And you’re laughing at me!"

Seeing Sun Dasheng nimbly dodge the cushion, she grew even more indignant.

Here I am, dead tired, and you’re as energetic as ever after everything we just did. It’s not fair!

Ignoring the ache in her body, she tried to stand up to playfully pummel his chest, but she stumbled and nearly fell.

"Hey now, not everyone has the same stamina. Don’t push yourself. Be good!" Sun Dasheng said, catching her in a flash.

"Don’t move! I’ll help you get dressed first. Otherwise, if your best friend comes in and sees you naked, how will you ever face her again?"

These words finally made the beauty in his arms settle down quietly.

The man before her was focused, carefully helping her put on each item of clothing. Instantly, her heart filled with a sweet warmth.

"Brother Sun, you’re so good to me! I could just die for you," Xiang Yiren said emotionally, wrapping her arms around his neck.

Sun Dasheng looked at her, puzzled. I just helped her get dressed, didn’t I? Why is she so moved? But the emotion in her eyes seems genuine, not faked. How strange. When I was poor, I used to do things like this at home all the time, but I never received a single word of praise or gratitude from my ex-wife. Now that I have money, a small gesture like this can move someone so deeply. Women truly are strange creatures. When a man is always there for her, she wishes he’d spend less time with her and more time earning money. When a man is out making a fortune, she wishes he’d earn a little less and spend more time at home with her. Talk to the poor about money and the rich about feelings... I suppose that’s just how most women are.

After tidying up the room, especially cleaning up the sofa, he opened a window to air the place out for a while.

The office door was knocked on once again.

"Come in!"

Although the wind had cleared out much of the room’s particular scent, Jiang Ziyan still caught a whiff of it as she entered.

Her face flushed slightly.

Seeing her best friend sitting on the sofa looking all prim and proper, she scoffed inwardly. You little vixen.
