Chapter 2 Taking Disciples

Su Xi's eyes twitched as she saw the spider's suicidal behavior, never expecting someone to be so audacious. However, she didn't hesitate and found cover behind an obstacle.

Just then, with a deafening "boom," flames erupted into the sky, and a scorching heat wave rapidly spread outwards.

Su Xi stared at the inferno before her, her heart pounding.

Her most powerful weapon was currently a directional fission-uranium bomb. If that couldn't kill the monster, she would be finished.

The flames quickly subsided, revealing a dying spider.

Half of its body was gone, and a thick, black, foul-smelling liquid oozed from the severed parts. Its remaining legs trembled uncontrollably from the pain.

"This monster is truly perverse," Su Xi muttered, swallowing hard as she took in the scene. She subtly retreated a few steps, creating a safe distance.

The spider's remaining eye fixed on Su Xi, and it let out an enraged growl.

It had been careless and suffered such severe injuries.

"I will kill you!" The spider used its essence to control its wounds, then lunged at Su Xi, intent on tearing her to shreds and venting its fury.

Seeing the spider charge again, Su Xi didn't retreat. Instead, she gritted her teeth and charged forward.

Without any more bombs, she had to risk her life.

After all, the spider was injured, and its defenses must have been affected. If she could just wear it down, the spider would surely exhaust itself.

Su Xi's strategy proved to be effective. Every shot she fired left a bloody hole in the spider.

However, the spider's hatred for Su Xi was immense. It ignored its injuries and, with a few leaps, closed the distance to Su Xi, blocking all her escape routes.

At such close range, Su Xi had nowhere to run. She could even smell the foul stench emanating from the spider.

"I'm finished," countless thoughts raced through Su Xi's mind as she prepared for the inevitable.

Suddenly, before Su Xi could make another move, the spider's charging body froze. Then, it collapsed to the ground with a thud, motionless.

"Huh?" Su Xi blinked in confusion, unsure of what had happened. She tossed a pebble at the spider's head, trying to see what was going on.

However, the pebble landed on the spider's head, and it still showed no reaction.

Suddenly, a Sanskrit chant echoed in Su Xi's ears. She followed the sound and saw a man in white, his robes flowing, walking leisurely from the sky. With each step he took in the air, a green lotus bloomed beneath his feet.

A deity?

Su Xi's feeling that the world around her was becoming increasingly fantastical intensified. She became even more convinced of the information she had gleaned from Ma Song: she had truly transmigrated to a world of cultivation.

The man landed in front of the spider, a look of regret on his face. "What a pity, why is it only half left?"

He mumbled a few more words, his eyes welling up with tears, looking as wronged as a mistreated wife.

The Ironclad Rampage Spider, a level 3 demonic beast, was most valuable for its impenetrable hide. To have lost more than half of it for nothing was a true heartbreak.

Seeing Lin Qing wailing as if he had lost his mother, Su Xi couldn't help but twitch her lips.

Were these two relatives?

Although she knew it wasn't a good time to interrupt Lin Qing, she had to brace herself and offer comfort: "Daoist priest, the dead cannot be brought back to life. Please accept my condolences."

There were many questions she needed to ask Lin Qing.

"Ah!" Hearing Su Xi's voice, Lin Qing let out a startled yelp and jumped up from the ground.

He clutched his chest, stared at Su Xi, and indignantly demanded, "Are you trying to scare me to death? You make no sound when you walk!"

Su Xi's forehead creased as Lin Qing questioned her.

She had been standing still the entire time, not moving at all.

Was this a scam?

However, considering Lin Qing's earlier display of power, Su Xi felt it wasn't worth quibbling over such a trivial matter.

She flashed a wide smile, intending to explain and ease the tension.

Before she could speak, Lin Qing interrupted her with a wave of his hand. "Stop the nonsense and come help me."

Su Xi was taken aback. She didn't think she was familiar with Lin Qing. But remembering that she probably couldn't beat him, she walked over anyway.

Lin Qing was not polite and directly ordered, "Help me dismember it."

Once a demonic beast died, its spiritual energy would gradually dissipate. Without spiritual energy, it would become useless. He didn't know why the Ironclad Rampage Spider's spiritual energy was draining so rapidly, but he knew he couldn't wait.

Otherwise, he would truly lose everything.

He threw out a talisman and then made hand seals, chanting an incantation. As the incantation resonated, waves of blue light appeared, enveloping the Ironclad Rampage Spider and preventing the loss of spiritual energy.

Su Xi looked at Lin Qing with a knife in her hand, completely bewildered.

She only knew how to kill, not how to butcher meat.

Seeing that Su Xi wasn't acting, Lin Qing knew she didn't understand. He pointed to a nearby mustard seed pouch and urged, "What are you waiting for? Hurry up and chop it into pieces and put it in there."

He regretted it; if he had the resources on hand, he wouldn't have to cut it himself without a high-grade mustard seed pouch.

Su Xi nodded, picked up the knife, and began to hack.

After filling the bag, she placed it in front of Lin Qing. She waited for a long time with no reaction. When she looked up, she found Lin Qing staring at her with a strange expression.

Startled, she quickly stepped back a few paces, widening the distance between them.

She was stunningly beautiful; was Lin Qing plotting something?

Lin Qing looked at the wariness in Su Xi's eyes and knew she had misunderstood. He sighed helplessly.

He was the sect leader of Penglai Mountain and one of the few Nascent Soul stage experts, yet he was being mistaken for a pervert.

If this news got out, he would lose all face.

Suppressing the urge to knock some sense into Su Xi, he tried his best to smile kindly. "Young lady, you have extraordinary potential. Do you have any desire to become my disciple and pursue immortality?"

"No," Su Xi had seen enough deception in the cutthroat interstellar battlefield to see through Lin Qing's ulterior motives at a glance.

Rejected by Su Xi, Lin Qing's smile almost cracked.

A mortal refusing the temptation of immortality?

Had he not explained clearly, or was Su Xi not thinking straight?

However, considering the mission this time, Lin Qing had no choice but to continue to persuade her.

This was a matter of life and death for Penglai Mountain; he had to win Su Xi over. Not receiving a response from Su Xi, Lin Qing flicked his sleeve, intending to act forcefully. Today was the last day of the mission; he couldn't afford any more delays.

He decided to first control Su Xi and forcibly take her as a disciple.

However, after attempting several spells, he found that Su Xi remained in her original position, completely unaffected.

His spells failed, and Lin Qing's face turned slightly red.

Had he forgotten the incantation after not using his spells for so long?

Su Xi watched Lin Qing flicking his sleeves, with occasional flashes of light from his cuffs, her forehead covered in question marks.

Was he trying to conquer her with his talents?

But wasn't this talent a bit too rudimentary?

Don't just dance awkwardly; at least sing a song.
